Late Flight- Food and Adult Beverages Options?

DH and I are taking a kid-free trip next month (Yay!!). Our flight doesn't land until 9:55 p.m. and we are planning on taking an Uber/Lyft to our hotel in the Disney Springs area. Will there be anywhere open in the airport after we get off our flight where we can grab a quick to-go dinner and maybe breakfast for the next morning (think cold sandwiches and pastries)? Bonus points if any of the gift shops sell beer and wine to-go since I'm sure we will want to wind down with a drink or two when we get to the hotel but the hotel bars will probably be closed.

There are a number of bars, restaurants, and shops that are listed as being open till “last flight,” per the below link. You might consider packing some light food in your carry-on for your first morning’s breakfast.

MCO food, beverage, and shops

Check the website for the Hyatt Regency in the terminal. I believe their lounge is open until midnight with food and beverages.

"Last flight" normally means the last departure, not the last arrival. The food court at MCO normally closes before 9pm. If anything will be open, it will be the food options near the arrival gates but honestly, I wouldn't count on it. As a PP said, your best bet is to to pack dinner in your carryon if you can't eat at your departure airport. (You probably should pack breakfast, too. We usually pack pastries and some sliced ham, to get in some breakfast protein.)

I long ago put my foot down on the uncertainty of hunting down food after late arrivals; it's just too much of a PITA when I'm already tired from traveling. I'm not above ordering pizza for delivery to the hotel after arrival, but right now even the decent pizza places close early.
What I do is to order a nice packed meal from a local deli and pick it up on the way to the airport. Tell them to pack the condiments separately, so that you can put them in your 3-1-1 baggie in your carryon to get them through security without your food being all soggy.
Purchase bottled beverages airside in your departure airport. If you need to keep things cold you have two options: either freeze a bag of some food item, such as grapes, to use as ice, or bring a few ziplocs and beg ice from one of the vendors at your departure airport (more difficult to do now with the pandemic.)

I have a couple of flat insulated lunch pouches that I use to put the food away in my carryon bag (because the limit on the number of items you can board with still applies.) We found eating on planes to be a bit awkward with the mask rule, but we managed; we just kept raising and lowering the mask when taking bites. You may want to also bring along some drinking straws; they are easier when maneuvering around a mask.

I would look to eat dinner at the airport before departure. One of your prior posts indicated you are in MI so your flying time is likely only 2-3 hours depending on connections vs. non-stop.

Starbucks is has late hours, maybe 24/7. that might be the only thing open You can put adult beverages in your qt ziplock bag. Either buy mini bottles in a liquor store or funnel into 100 ml or smaller. You're not allowed to pour yourself a drink on the plane.

consider booking a car service. Ride share availability may be low and fares high thar time of night. Worse if your flight is delayed.

If you are checking luggage, I bought wine diapers from Amazon years ago. They are thick insulated bags with bubble wrap inside to pack a bottle of wine in luggage (or they fit a bottle of whatever you prefer). You could bring a bottle or two of wine that way for unwinding after you get to the hotel.

Not sure about food options, so I agree to buy something at the departing airport to bring with you on the plane.

We have run into this problem several times. I'd pack some snacks to tide you over.

We have a 7:30am flight and I was wondering the same thing. :drinking1 Vacation starts as soon as we land safely.

You can put little Shot bottles in your 3-1-1 bag and get a few sodas when you land and then you can have a cocktail at your hotel.

You can buy 50ml bottles in many liquor stores. You can buy empty 100ml bottles and a funnel.

Hotels have ice machines. Why do you need soda?

FWIW 50ml bottles of Tito Vodka are available.

The soda would be used as a mixer at the resort. I think we're saying the same thing.

I'm not good using those smilie things... What I meant was why dilute good adult beverages with soda. Straight up or on the rocks.

You can fit 5, maybe 6, of the airline sized 50 ml bottles in a quart baggie. Transferring your regular sized liquor into 100ml bottles is more economical.

It is against FAA regulations to serve yourself liquor on your flight.

Try 9 or 10 if you’re a good packer. And I believe it’s up to 5L allowed in checked baggage. And keep in mind Titos airplane bottles are glass or at least they were. Might be safer with a plastic bottle option

You must host some nice parties at your hotel.

What hotel are you staying at? The DS is open till mid-night you could just go there for a bit to eat and a drink. Or have food delivered to your hotel and maybe the hotel has a bar that would be open. I know the bar at the Spring Hill Suites by CSR is open till 1:00a.m. so maybe your hotel will have a bar open late. FYI the lobby bar at the Hyatt hotel at MCO closes at midnight.

Are you referring to Disney Springs? I believe they are still closing at 10pm on weekdays and 11pm on weekends. If OP's plane lands at 9:55pm, they wouldn't make it.
