We have been at BWV three times since we bought in 1998. We have requested late departure each time and been refused each time. Has anyone been successful? We always travel in the "value" season.

My understanding is that none of the DVC resorts offer a late check out. I'm sure it has to do with housekeeping (DVC units take longer to clean than traditional hotel rooms), and the fact that so many of us would like to get into a room early. FWIW, even in the value season, the occupancy of the BWV seems to be near (if not at) the maximum.

We just check our bags with bell services and enjoy the day either at the pool or one of the parks.

I would guess that at a high demand place such as BWV means someone else will get an even later arival time.
4 Pm is late enough already. I would be interested to hear if anyone has had luck with this at any resort.

We were at VWL last week and requested late check-out and were denied as well.
It was explained to me by a CM that the owners had voted against allowing late check-out to keep our annual dues down.
Although I have no recollection of this and never attended a yearly owner's meeting, this sounded like a real possibility.

I for sure would be in favor of no late check-out if late check-outs would increase yearly dues.

It's easy for a conventional business hotel to offer late checkouts. Such a hotel might have an average 80% occupancy, plenty of late check-ins by business travelers, many guests who check out very early in the morning at the start of the business day, and rooms that are fairly simple to clean. So if some people want to check out late, no big deal.

On the other hand, DVC resorts have an average of nearly 100% occupancy, plenty of guests who want to check in as early as possible (and hate waiting until even 4:00 p.m.), guests who are on vacation and want to check out as late possible, and rooms that are condos (with kitchens) and that often haven't been thoroughly cleaned in a week.

Different situations. Different late checkout rules.

By the way, DVC doesn't have voting by owners... opinion surveys, yes -- but voting, no.

It's very easy to arrange for late-checkout - just make sure when you make your reservation, that you book one more additional night than you are actually going to stay - then you can check out any time on that day that you want.
