Happy new year everyone!
Has anyone/would you try to get a late deal for may? It will be 1 week before school hols and our 2nd week would be half term. Would you risk it or would you book now?
Last year we went after half term and got a bargain a week before we went but I don't know if I dare do it again with half term being part of our dates.
Thanks!

No-one can know, thats why they are cheap, unsold seats, if they sell well you won't get anything, if they don't you will.
Personal experience is I have always struggled to get late deals attached to school hols, ended up paying OTT or not going(that was Xmas one year)

We got a fab deal last year for Easter, we booked on the Thursday and flew on the Friday- it was a bargain - but it depends on whether you are tied to your dates or if you are flexible. We knew that if we didn't got at Easter it was no big deal we could book another time later in the year.

To give you an idea we paid about £220 for our flights each, and one of DD's school friends was on the same flight as us and they paid over £700 each!

Depends if you are willing to risk it.

We went first week of May 2012 (early bank holiday) booked 1 week before with Cosmos.

I know there were some great prices for late April/ early May and then again mid June with Cosmos (monarch flights) and Thomson.

The week the schools were off was very pricey. I don't think you will get a bargain if you are trying to include the half term week - basic supply and demand.

I watched prices 2011 and it was the same.

A lot of schools in our area seem to be having 2 weeks off end May/early June - putting the random training days together to give a 2 week holiday. Seems very popular with parents (sadly not dd's school)

Not sure if it is a nationwide thing.

Thank you everyone. Pretty much as I thought, daren't risk leaving it with the half term hols being attached to it.
We got a really good late deal last June but it didn't involve school hols.
Best get finding some good deals and get booking now then!

We're going to try and get a late deal this year, I don't hold out much hope but we can try. Luckily we aren't tied down and can pretty much book then go.
