This is our very first cruise, so of course it had to be a Disney Cruise :earsboy: Anyway, I am wondering about the weather. If I had waited to book later, I would go after hurricane season. But, how is the seas, weather, etc in late August. I am really nervous about seasickness and rough seas. Well, anybody else sailing with us? Thanks -:earsgirl:

When are you sailing?

Personally, I think sea sickness and rough seas can happen at any time. We had a rough time in November a few years ago. Pop the medicine and hang on. You're on a boat, so who knows what can happen.

This is our 4th cruise...and 3 of them have been in late August/ early september.....We have had calm seas every cruise.....The only time we even had rain was last year during the deck party leaving port canaveral, and that was only a light one.

I think the seas tend to be rougher in the winter months....that is when they ahve the hardest time docking in Castaway Cay.

On our first cruise, we were terrified about getting sick on the ship...we got the seabands....they work great by the way. We are the type that get sick on certain rides. We never had any problems. The only thing you feel is a very very slight swaying of the ship sometimes....its like a rocking chair rocking you to sleep at night! ;)

If you are prone to getting sick, they say to get a lower level cabin in the center of the ship.

If you are planning a 7 day first, I recommend a 3 or 4 before you try that.....it gives you a taste of the 7 day but just for a shorter time....that is just a suggestion, if you are prone to motion sickness.....We did the 3 day for our first time out.....Now its 7 all the way!!!! And the 2 week panama cruise from CA-FL.....It will be great being on the Magic for 2 weeks!

I know you will love it.....the captain and crew does a great job avoiding storms. As far as hurricanes..... they will avoid them as much as possible....if its a close call and you are scheduled to do the Eastern and a hurricane is going to slam into St. Thomas on or around the time you are suppose to be there, then you will just do the western instead...;)

I hope this helps......sorry for making it so long....

Happy planning!

Sorry about being so vague - I need to update my clock since we have booked our cruise. We are going to Poly Conc. for 5 days, then driving over and taken the 3 day Nassau cruise to get our feet wet. We just booked it Sunday and we are going in 1 month!I am researching everything all the time about this cruise. I am both excited that I can hardly wait, yet at times I get very nervous and think I must have been crazy to book a cruise. I get motion sickness on some rides, so I hope it doesn't happen on the cruise. I did buy some Bonine and I got the patch and I think I will also get the Sea Bands. I don't want to overload, but maybe just take the Bonine and Sea Bands and hold off on the patch for emergency. HAs anyone ever not liked the cruise and just got off and flew back home in Nassau? That is my worst case seinor -hope not. I really want to enjoy this and relax. Any help with the countdown clock on updating my info? Thanks

We did our Wonder cruise late August of last year. Aside from the occasional dark clouds (sun popped right out after) with very light showers, we hardly felt the waters.

It was our second cruise, first with Disney, and first for our kids. With all the excitement and wonder of being in a Disney cruise it was like being in a resort.

I think you are getting to worried about this cruise! Are you nuts! Fly home from Nassau! You will be having to much fur for that!. I don't think I have ever heard that before...except for a medical emergency. I would lay off the patch....i have heard of some nasty side effects with that patch....sometimes it actually makes you feel worse then with the motion sickness... The ship does not smash into waves as it does in movies.....The technology today makes crusing very smooth, most of the times. You have to remember, that the captain does everything in his power to get you perfect weather and calm seas.

It's really not as bad as you are making it. its bumpier riding in a car, or in a plane... on our cruises...about 95% of the time, I forgot I was on a ship..it felt like I was walking in a building. (until i saw mickey in his captain outfit! ;) of course)

Really....relax..have a great cruise....and you will regret going on the cruise, because its going to make you addicted to them just like the rest of us!! hahahahah just kidding.....

You are going to love it....and so is your children...

Just remember, take lots of pictures... :)

If you have any other questions, we are all here to help!

Have a nice time! and remember to RELAX!!!!!!!!! ::yes::

Hey, MariaTia! I think we'll be there with you ~ we're going to be at Poly Concierge Aug. 21 - 26, then on the Aug. 26 Wonder. Are these your dates? If so, let us know how to recognize you & your party!

We did the Disney Wonder last 8/21/04 and had a great time. The weather was great. Going again on the Disney Wonder 8/19/04. We usually cruise mid to late August every year because the price usually goes down then.:earsgirl:
