Yes and no. DLR has a different demographic than WDW. Late August 2009 had some very big crowds. In 2010 it did not even though they were expected by some people. There was heat wave in in 2010 at that time and some people speculated that was the reason.

There are some regulars around here (like BlackJackDelta) who swear they will never go back in late August and always stick to early August or other summer weeks.

Maybe you are referring to the week blockouts lifted? Because we went the last week that year and it was great. The trick is making sure you go the week AFTER blockouts lift. They used to lift blockouts earlier in August which has changed the dynamic for the late part of that month.

Monday, August 29th would be a great day to start your vacation as it is the week after blockout lift AND most all southern california schools are back in session. Park hours may be a bit reduced, like an 11:00 close instead of midnight. It's the best time to go in the summer IMHO.

I am and if memory serves it was like August 22. Jack would probably remember.

Thanks for the help all and Hydroguy your threads have been so helpful. We were looking at the week of the 22nd but we may move it to the 29th, either that or the beginning of August. We're pretty flexible but we need to make a decision soon because I have to purchase airfare. We have WDW currently booked but the fam is burnt out and ready for something different.
