Hi

I am trying to rack my brains for our next trip to WDW. I am starting my nurse training in Feb 08 I doubt we will be able to go this October, which is our favourite time of year to go.

Due to my college and Casey's school we can only go in summer holidays. My course does not finish until the end of July and at times people have been on placements in the first week August.

We are planning to go away in the last two weeks of August in 08.

How busy will it be? It's going to unbearable in the heat, but with regular breaks and drinks I am hoping to survive the heat. I also love the heat.

Thanks

Hi Michelle, you are certainly right about the heat - mid 90s last August when we were there.

Over the years generally the last 2 weeks of August crowd-wise is not too bad at all, unfortunatley the Disney Dining Plan has affected that slightly.

I would say the parks will not be packed, especially if you get there early in the morning's and generally visit at quieter/cooler times of the day.
However, as many of us found last year the DDP did mean that crowds were heavier that they would usually be, especially at Magic Kingdom.
I guess to a degree it has become more difficult to predict crowd levels in August now.

It's very difficult to advise regarding the summer holidays because as I am sure you would agree 'ideally' it is not the best time to visit.

Hi Johnny

Its lovely to hear from you. Thanks for your advice. I wish we didnt have to visit FL in August. I am not allowed to take anytime off during the year. We only have summer, christmas and easter. I would prefer to go in the summer at least that way we can go to the water parks. I am not sure I would want to go in December. Its looks unpredictable. I am just sad we can not go this October.

We saw DDP offered free to those staying in Aug/Sept. We did have a holiday booked for this Sept. We had to cancel for many reasons. Its such a shame it looked like a great deal. Even though it was way too much food in our eyes. I think I will have to make my adr's as soon as we can. Just in case this DDP is an annual offer.

Thanks for your advice.

It is going to be hot and humid but totally doable. I have been 4 times in the last two weeks of August but 2006 was so busy compared to the last 3 occasions. The reason things have changed is the free dining plan. I couldnt believe the change in the crowd levels. The hotels are very busy and the parks are much busier than they were in previous years. I would say, plan your days and get to the parks early. You will be fine. Have a great holiday.
I should also add that we noticed the crowds were much less in the fourth week than the third week.
