Anyway, my idiot coworker is NO LONGER my idiot coworker! She was let go today! One of the management staff was making a round of the building this morning, before our shift ended, and he caught her leaving a vacant room on the fifth floor with her backpack, purse, and gym bag. She claimed she was just using the bathroom, but there is no reason for her stuff to have been up there. The locker room's on the third floor.

I'm really trying not to be happy about it, since she has two kids, but sometimes she just made me want to smack her she was such an idiot. For example, last night, she was doing the med pass. Tonight, I did it (the other woman I'm working with will do morning meds and we're splitting the laundry) and found out that she didn't give a resident with schizophrenia her meds last night. They were still in the resident's med drawer. That's not supposed to happen.

I'm trying The woman I'm working with tonight is great, and I wish she'd switch back to nights to work with me permanently. I'm not sure how fast they'll be able to hire a replacement.

She's not your responsibility and she did this to herself. This stuff is so scary because Fran's mom spent the last 2-3 years in SNFs she always told us about how they didn't do what they were supposed to, we didn't always believe her, but from what you're saying....

As for confirming my vacation, as soon as the new DOW (we call it "wellness" here, not nursing) starts, I'm going to confirm with him. I have copies of the signed approval from our current (and temporary) DOW, but I just want to make sure that it doesn't get lost in the shuffle.

There's a lot that's supposed to happen that doesn't. Part of why things go wrong here is because there's no accountability, which I think is because we're still in the first year and we've already had three DOWs and about to have a fourth. People get written up all the time, but there's no threat of termination unless you do something stupid like she did. At the nursing home I used to work at, they were extremely anal about things getting done the right way. It really depends on the place.

But for what it's worth, my grandfather spent the last four or five years of his life in a SNF up in Wisconsin and the nursing staff there was AMAZING. My grandmother volunteered with the home all the time, even after he passed away. I just look at the people who don't do things right and want to slap them and ask "What would you say if this was YOUR father/mother/grandparent? How would you feel about slacking then?"

Glad you liked the picture. My cousin arrived this morning at 9.30 am Melbourne time. She's staying with my parents, who are about 2 km down the road from me (1 mile = 1.6 km) and I went round tonight to catch up, have dinner....grow fat!

She brought me my Milano biscuits (completely squashed) and some of her mom's peanut brittle . I must take a picture of the peanut brittle for my PTR.

Hello Ness....have you been well? DH and I have been talking about biting the bullet and going over to the dark side.....Yup, we're seriously considering getting a FB account. DS is getting to that age and I figure we've got about 2 years of deliberations in this household before either DS beats us to the FB account or we make up our minds about opening an account and possibly beating him! We should be on LTP # 25 by then???

Well there goes my plan to ask for Lamingtons from Australia guess I'll have to settle for EPCOT version...I just think it would probably be better directly from a shop. Have a wonderful time with your cousin!

Hi Everyone! Good Morning!

DH and I have been talking about biting the bullet and going over to the dark side.....Yup, we're seriously considering getting a FB account. DS is getting to that age and I figure we've got about 2 years of deliberations in this household before either DS beats us to the FB account or we make up our minds about opening an account and possibly beating him! We should be on LTP # 25 by then???

You each need to get your own FB, it would be weird for you to share one. How would you pick what schools you have attended? And people you knew before you met him and vice versa would be confused on who they were actually friending...what would you put in the male/female category? You can each get an account and talk to each other through FB, I have a couple friends (husband/wife) who make dinner plans, decide on where they are going on a date through FB.

I've been on FB for about a year and a half, and have reconnected with all sorts of people from my childhood and early adulthood. Many of which I'd completely forgotten about. I'm even friends with at least three of my exboyfriends! One of them even got to fiance status! We could be friends! I would put you in my "Disney friends" category!
