LAST-TO-POST #12 Calling all Poster Gals (and Guys) of the Lasting Kind.....

We went to the National Museum of the American Indian and then came back here to make spaghetti dinner. Wall-E was on Disney channel and now we're watching Cats and Dogs 2: The revenge of Kitty Galore. It's very silly, but you'd be amazed at the star power they go in there!

We're going to get up real early tomorrow and try to get tickets to the bureau of Printing and Engraving. Fran wants to see them make money! :rotfl2:

I hope that the thread chills out on 14 or 15 when they figure out that while it's fun to hit the end, half the journey is getting there and if you speed your way to each destination you miss the trip along the way.

Also I'm sure as you know it's more fun to play with others than to play with yourself! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I've actually never had a shark fin dish because of the manner in which they are harvested. We actually picked up a little brochure from the MBA which listed the seafoods which were OK to eat, we stay away from the ones that aren't OK. Alas we don't eat that much seafood as most of the time we are eating out of the freezer which means chicken or beef, keilbasa or who knows what else I have tucked away.

Do you eat keilbasa because you are of Polish decent? I have many Polish friends and on always wanted to find kielbasa here but never said it was quite like back in Poland.

::yes:: And lets not forget the Witchity Grubs either! :lmao:

Our proximity to Asia means that we have a lot of food diversity that is making it into restaurants and cooking shows. I know you can get the produce in the US, but only in selected towns. It's that mass market thing - the more people eat and get used to new chinese vegetables, the more they show up in the supermarkets.

The US has a good variety of food, you just don't find it in a typical grocery store. Like I mention about the Keilbasa it was never right to my Polish friend. Because there is a huge variety of American foods. They are based on where are nations peoples imigrated from. The Polish were the second largest base of immigrants after the British. But after 100 years all the food became American.

If you want to find something distinctly foreign it's not hard. You just have to know where to look. US universities train the doctors, business men and scientists of the world. So at these universities you find students from Malaysia, Chile, India, Pakistan, Kenya, UAE....... And somewhere is nearby is a market supplying them with the foods from home. Occasionally near the University will be restaurants serving the food they liked at home too.

That's KFC, OMG! I can't believe that they think it is a sandwich!

Hmm I don't have a KFC nearby but I'm not sure I'm going to try one if I happen to be near one.

Out side of eat some chicken and some fish I wouldnt mind eating alot more veggies. I just need so many recipes to keep it up.

Thanks. Interesting list and I wonder if it is slightly different for the Southern Hemisphere, so I went trawling. Look what I found! The list is 2/3 of the way down.

We eat snapper, which is on the MBA avoid list; but is one of the good fish to eat here. :confused3

I love Perch and Barra the best :thumbsup2

I remember getting that card at Atlanta Aquarium and Monterey but it is dependant on locality as to what is 'on the list'
What I hate is that they eat Gropers in the US

Keep in mind that the US has enviromental laws that influnece the list. Some things have to be caught in a sensitive manner, which is why some are ok from the US but not from imports. I imagine Oz has laws like this too. Being in my opinion that it does a great job protecting the GBR not just for itself but all of the people of the world.

Silence of the lambs?

That was I was eating a couple hours ago.

:lmao: It's all very confusing at the moment! Friday went very well, today went very well. I'm not used to having more than one guy interested at the same time.
Me Neither...
I've been a bit of a hermit because I spent so long at uni doing a degree that has a ridiculous work load.
Then breaks were spent on family holidays :lmao:

I'm sure the version that I like tastes nothing like it does in poland. I had a BF in college who taught me to like Velveeta Shells and Cheese with Keilbasa. Since then Fran has taught me to enjoy it with sauerkraut and I put it in Jambalaya because I am too lazy to seek out Andoullie. It's just something that I can buy at the store, cut off a chunk, throw the rest in the freezer and then cut it while it's still frozen to throw in Mac-n-cheese as a late night protien, or use it in jambalaya mix since I normally have cooked chicken and frozen shrimp in the freezer as well.

:rotfl: I'm just so used to being ridiculously shy that I've never really dated much.
