I'd pretty avoided the midwest.....looks like I'm going to have to make a trip out there for the food.

They definitely have their own style of cuisine. Fran has taught me a greater appreciation towards things not highbrow. My parents brought me up as a snob, all my "partners" have been bringing me down and reigning me in from that cloud, introducing me to the finer "pedestrian" things in life.

It was a long time ago, it was like a 10 worst, 10 best list. Based on things like bycatch, populationstability, live catch and polution.

This was probably 8-10 years ago that we went to the aquarium and they gave out the little cards about what was sustainable, indangered and almost fished from extinction. I bet if you checked their website they would have something about it.

I have to go start our din din now, and relinquish the computer to Fran so I may be relegated to my phone. Wall-E is on Disney channel right now so at least I will be entertained!

I've actually never had a shark fin dish because of the manner in which they are harvested. We actually picked up a little brochure from the MBA which listed the seafoods which were OK to eat, we stay away from the ones that aren't OK. Alas we don't eat that much seafood as most of the time we are eating out of the freezer which means chicken or beef, keilbasa or who knows what else I have tucked away.

I wonder if it was the same thing? I may of seen it at the SF academy of science, but it was published by MBA.

Wall E? Hmmm right now Meet The Robinsons is still going. I have to get dinner done anyway.

Why do you have a good variety? Kangaroo steaks and crocodile tail?

::yes:: And lets not forget the Witchity Grubs either! :lmao:

Our proximity to Asia means that we have a lot of food diversity that is making it into restaurants and cooking shows. I know you can get the produce in the US, but only in selected towns. It's that mass market thing - the more people eat and get used to new chinese vegetables, the more they show up in the supermarkets.

Out side of eat some chicken and some fish I wouldnt mind eating alot more veggies. I just need so many recipes to keep it up.

How is the breakfast? More importantly how is the coffee? That is always my first thought. When we travel I usually stick with 7-11 or Mcdonalds. I cant stand starbucks. Are you taking it easy today? Or are you out and about? Just take it easy and enjoy.

That's the same guide we got only updated for 2011. Thanks I'll save it to my computer when I get it back!

Thanks. Interesting list and I wonder if it is slightly different for the Southern Hemisphere, so I went trawling. Look what I found! The list is 2/3 of the way down.

We eat snapper, which is on the MBA avoid list; but is one of the good fish to eat here. :confused3
I love Perch and Barra the best :thumbsup2

I remember getting that card at Atlanta Aquarium and Monterey but it is dependant on locality as to what is 'on the list'
What I hate is that they eat Gropers in the US
