Last time you went to the movies, how much was the price of admission?

My sons were thinking about going to see Deadpool this evening, now maybe it's because it was a Saturday night show but come on, $19.00 bucks a ticket. Yeesh.

I can't remember how much it was for Star wars but I did go to see "The big short" and I think I got a 10 buck ticket.

I do like going to the movies, some thing about the big screen experience but wowza, this is getting insane.

The last 2 movies I saw in a theater were not around here.
Star Wars at the big domed imax at the franklin institute in Philly and it was only $15 a ticket
Sister is a theater in Portland Maine...i think it was only $8 a ticket.

My son saw Deadpool Monday morning at a local theater. First showing, but he went to the Imax theater and it was $20 a ticket! I thought that was a lot.

Wow. I go to the movies almost every week. They are $9.50 at night, $6.50 for a matinee, and $4.50 for the first showing.

$6 to see Star Wars last month. 10:30 am showing. Full price for evening showings is $8.75.

Was it 3D or imax?

I'm in south jersey and I remember a family of 5 seeing captain America in imax 3D and it was almost $100.

I buy discounted movie tickets at work for $8. If regular priced it's about $13-14 for a night movie that isn't 3D.

We watched Deadpool last weekend. $10.50 per ticket for an evening showing. Our local theater has the reclining, put your feet up style seats with reserved seating, which is pretty cool. We buy Fandango gift cards at the office supply store and use those to buy our movie tickets so we can get 5 miles per dollar when we go to the movie theater.

I haven't been to a movie since last year, but it 6.50 for seniors, 7.50 for students and 8.50 for everyone else.

I think a regular ticket is $11, a few more for 3D, but I always go to the weekday matinee if I'm going to go and it's $4.50.

I just checked the theater for tomorrow...First showing of deadpool is $18.85 a ticket. Guess the $20 my son paid for the Imax wasn't so bad after all.

I also checked the same theater for Zoolander 2 tomorrow, and first show came up with a matinee price of $10.60.

Are they just charging more for deadpool? weird.

This is just for a standard movie, no 3D, DBOX, IMAX. Standard adult pricing.

Theater A: $6.25 for first showing each day, $7.50 before 6pm, $9.75 after 6pm.

Theater B: $7.25 before 6pm, $9.50 after 6pm.

Theater C: $6.50 before 4pm, $5.50 for showing 4pm-6pm, $8.50 after 6pm. Not a horrible place to see movies, but the oldest theater in town and it shows.

I took my Dad to see Star Wars while was in FL a couple of weeks ago. It was the first show of the day and so it was only $4.25. When the cashier said $8.50 I just about keeled over because I can't remember the last time I bought one ticket at home for less than that. Normally ours are $10, I think.

Our theater is $6.00 a ticket for evening shows and $4.00 for matinee. Also offers a free movie at 5:00 every Tuesday. Same movie shows for one month on the free one and they are sometimes new movies, but always good movies.

We hate seeing movies in the afternoon or evening so when we go it's really inexpensive, around $5.35 per ticket (regular showing, not 3D or IMAX) if it's before Noon on a Fri, Sat or Sun. For an evening show it is in the $10 range I think and a mid-day showing is around $8 probably. A 3D or IMAX movie at night might be in the $15 range, I'm not really sure.

I'd never pay more than $8 to go to the theater...for two tickets I could just buy the movie. If it is $20 for one ticket, no way...just buy the movie. Or don't and save the money! We mostly use gift cards all year for AMC that we receive as gifts so it works out well for us. We don't really splurge on entertainment, clothes, or other fun stuff so it is nice going out to a movie every once and a while.

Deadpool was so awesome, I loved it! :)

We always attend the first showing on weekends for $6 or any time on Wednesday for $5.75. We buy gift cards at 20% discount, so a movie date typically costs us less than $10. We prefer the morning showings and then grabbing lunch afterwards. Theatre is less crowded, there are fewer small kids or obnoxious teenagers and we are less tempted to get popcorn at 10am. Otherwise prices are Matinee $8.00, Standard $10.25, 3D $13.25 and Imax $14.50.

At home $5.50 first show of the day. Point break. We wound up at downtown disney and it was just under $15 for The Martian and no one but me actually wanted to see it, so I choked and said no. Plus we would of had to wait for a 10 pm show, way too late for me.

I believe a matinee is $8.50 for adults/$7.50 for kids with a surcharge for 3d. I normally go to matinees. My local movie theater chain has a free points program that after spending x amount over time you get a voucher for a free movie ticket. Last time I went I got a voucher. Since I knew Dh and youngest dd wanted to see Star Wars I had dh use the voucher to buy a ticket ahead of time (for the same night I was taking oldest dd to see the Nutcracker ballet). I knew it would be more at night.

I was shocked to find out that after one free ticket it cost $22. Something about a surcharge for 4d (not 3d which has a lesser surcharge) and an evening show. Since dh has only gone to the movies maybe 5 times in 15 years it helped with the sticker shock. When purchasing the Star Wars tickets I got a voucher for a free small popcorn for my birthday or something like that so at least dh & dd ended up with a free popcorn at the movies. After the movie both dh and dd said the 4d was a waste. Oh well.

We don't go to see very many movies but when we do, we always go to the first showing. It can be as early as 8am. Tickets are $4.50 and this theater has reserved seating, reclining seats, take a nap if the movie is boring, etc. Matinees are $6.50 and evening showings are $8.50. The shows in 3D are higher but only but a $1 or so. We never see 3D as it gives me a headache.

Like pp said, we also buy discounted theater gift cards (typically AMC at a 20-25% discount) so we feel we get a great deal between that and the first showing prices.

My ticket for Deadpool last Monday at 5:30pm was $8.19, but I did get a CM discount because the show was after a certain time.

I saw Star Wars: TFA and also Mockingjay part 2 on Mondays at 11:30am and the price for each was $5.85. On another Monday at 1:30pm, I paid $10.11 to see The Good Dinosaur. All of these were at the AMC at Disney Springs, which obviously varies its prices a lot based on time of day, and not in 3D because I hate it.

I also saw The Martian at a different theater in a broke-down mall closer to where I live, and it was $4.25 on a Monday at 11:50am.

Mondays are my day off, in case that's not obvious. :)
