Last thing on mind before sleep

I sometimes rehash the day or plan out the next day at work. Of course that does not help me sleep. Then I visualize wandering through one of the Disney parks, usually MK. That generally helps me to relax and go to sleep.

Usually, after reading or playing games for awhile, I run through the things I need to get done the next day.
Then about something frivolous, like packing list for the next trip or what to get the family member with the next birthday

Some nights, before I can really think anything, I am asleep. Other nights, I am awake at 3 am thinking about how I should have been more patient about that situation when ds was 3 (either one) and they are now 35 and 37 🙄. Or some little detail we forgot for dd’s wedding a year and a half ago.

On the rare nights that I hit an in between, I can drift off thinking about the beach and seeing the waves.

the one thing that will never wait with me is clothe, I love fresh smelling clothe, mine smell best in the world, I wish I could make money for that
You can, start a laundry service for friends & family. You could go into their home, wash, dry, iron, fold, hang!
It may be more popular than you think & everyone you know would smell fresh😀

I read for at least a half hour first to unwind. It has to be a book I have already read so I don’t want to stay up all night and finish it. Once I have relaxed, I usually imagine myself relaxing on vacation somewhere. I might be in a hammock on the beach, or on a cozy sofa by the fireplace in a cabin. It usually takes just a few minutes to go to sleep from there.

If I don’t read first, it’s hard to turn my mind off.

If it's a Sunday night...or in the case of last night, a holiday Monday night...everything for me. And I end up lying there for at least an hour or more before I can fall asleep.

Yup. This.

I try to not think about the real world at all. I typically think about scenes in my head using various characters that I've created, some since I was very young. There's like this weird, interrelated "universe" in my head with a rather long history at this point. It's not documented and can be inconsistent or change as I see fit. Most of it is just dialog about various things - it may be cathartic as I'm sure it reflects things on my mind at the time. I very rarely or never actually dream about this world though. My dreams tend to be stressful, but not full-on nightmares. I think they make me grind my teeth though.

Depending on whether there is a "sleep aid". With, I'm out in 5 minutes. Without, the last thing in my thoughts is usually, "crap, I have to be up in half an hour, why bother..." boom, I'm asleep and the alarm is going off half an hour later.
