I think I know the answer to these two quick questions, but I want to make sure.

1) Each use year allows me to borrow next year's points. So if I buy points at a resort that expires in 2059 then I can borrow each year's points but "run out" in 2058?

2) Does DVC membership allow one to "pool hop"?

there's no telling what will happen at the end dates of the contracts. they may restrict banking and borrowing at that point. keep an eye on the 2042 resorts to see what happens there.

if they don't restrict borrowing, that could work, though. for OKW-2042, my last pts will theoretically come on oct 2041. under current rules, i could borrow those into my 2040 UY and be out of pts before the end of calendar year 2040.

2) Does DVC membership allow one to "pool hop"?

subject to limitations, yes.

guests of that resort are always primary, so if the pool is busy, then no hopping. naturally there are busier times of year that are already blacked out and busier pools (like BCV, BLT, AKV and AoA) that are restricted to guests only.

or more formally:

Pool Hopping Information

When staying on your Membership at any Disney Vacation Club Resort at the Walt Disney World Resort, or Disney's Vero Beach Resort, you and any Guests staying with you are permitted to use most of the other Disney Vacation Club and Walt Disney World Resort hotel pools (in addition to the pool at the resort hotel at which you are staying) if they are not at capacity. If the pool you are visiting reaches capacity, you may be asked to leave in order to accommodate Guests of that resort hotel. Please check with a host or hostess at the front desk of the resort you wish to visit before you go to find out about pool-access availability. You must present your Magic Band or current Key to the World card with your "DVC Member" designation on it to use the other resort hotel pools. Pool hopping is not available at Bay Cove Pool at Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort, Uzima Pool and Samawati Springs Pool at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge, Stormalong Bay at Disney's Yacht & Beach Club Resorts, the leisure pool at Disney's Beach Club Villas, and the pools at Disney's Art of Animation Resort. There are no exceptions to this policy.

Resort hotel pools may become unavailable from time to time due to capacity limitations. Due to the high occupancy that is expected, you and any Guests staying with you may not pool hop during the following dates*:
February 16 - 23 (Sun-Sat)
April 12 - April 26 (Sat - Sat)
May 23 - 26 (Fri - Mon)
June 28 - July 7 (Sat - Mon)
August 29 - September 1 (Fri - Mon)
November 24 - 29 (Mon - Sat)
Dec 20, 2014 - Jan. 4, 2015 (Sat - Sun)

*Other restricted dates may be added based on projected pool capacity.

Disney changes the rules from time to time so pool hopping could go away.

Keep in mind that every year you borrow you will have less points to start with the next year. So if you borrow every year, you will likely run out before 2058.
