OK-the 13yr old survived getting on the bus-Thank goodness he's gone to school-Love when they wake up in a mood-don't they know by now that I'm the only one allowed to be in a mood in the morning!!!!

Our kids are on a 2 hour delay this morning. So I get to go to work 2 hours late. I've gotten a lot done this morning!

Good thing your work is so understanding!!!! I know it's because you live in the Mountains,but it sure seems like a lot of missed days!!! Must drive the Teachers crazy-so do the kids have to make all these days up???

It 'cause we're so mountainous but also because we're so rural. Over half the county roads are unpaved and it takes longer for the snow and ice to melt off. We go on delays and miss school so much so the kids on those unpaved roads have a chance to get to school too. Our county does closings county wide so if only one school district has bad roads we all are out or delayed.

A certain number of days are built into the school calendar (based on how many days we've missed in prior years) and as long as we don't miss more than that then we don't have to make any up. And when the kids are released early as long as all busses have gotten to the schools then it's counted as a day. So last week when they got out at 10:30 it was still counted as a day!

I am very lucky that my boss understands. Most places up here, though, understand the screwy school system and they work with parents.
