I JUST bought my very first ironing board (at 30-10 years old!!!!)

Used to iron (!?!) on the kitchen counter or, for "fine washables" (?!?), on the Family Room carpet!!!

Best thing that EVER happened to me was DH becoming a Fire Fighter cuz those uniforms come out of the dryer all newy and un-wrinkly looking, just like MAGIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Who am I trying to kid here??? This from the gal who still cannot thread a stinkin' needle!!! Or peel a potato!!!!! Oh, I could go on and on and on......

AND, (insert drumroll here, please)....I'M a SAHM/Housewife!!!!!

DH is a Toronto firefighter and is also a Captain on the volunteers in our town. I can NEVER let him read that both you and DH are doing this together as he thinks it would be sooooo cool for us! Unless I only had to do medical calls/accidents, etc. that would be great. But being claustophobic, firephobic and heightophobic don't think they'd want me!!!

I work in retail (grocery store) and I am often on the receiving end of those complaints and then I get to deal with it! We don't put up with it from any of our employees so I guess I feel I shouldn't have to put up with it elsewhere. There's just no reason for it.

Our FD would let you do strictly medical calls/accidents if that's what you wanted. It's a very small department and their theory is that they'll take what they can get. For example..DH does not go on roofs...or so he says. I went to a fire call about two years ago and when I got on scene I saw one of the firefighters on the roof venting it. I asked one of the guys who it was that was up there and they said it was my DH!!!! On the sloped roof of a two story house!!! Later he said that someone had to go up and he got caught up in the moment and forgot he's afraid of heights. (He sort of did remember coming back down though!!! ) They know that I will not go into any burning building...I feel that's just too dangerous for a mom with kids at home, especially when DH is out there too. I will pull lines to the door but I won't go in, and they all know that and have never asked me to do so. If we have enough firefighters on scene then I am also the official photographer for the department and will take pics that can be used for training later. DH is also a first responder and as soon as our boys are a little older I hope to go through the first responder training.

To let you know how great our department is...our 17 year old wants to become a junior firefighter so much!! Right now we're letting him go with us to meetings and help clean up fire trucks when we have time. And he's gotten to ride in the fire truck in a parade (along with our other two boys). But he wants to be a "real" fireman. The chief has told us whenever we feel comfortable with letting him join they'll take him on - and every one of the other firefighters that we've mentioned it to is completely supportive!! And in case you didn't know...our 17 year old has Down Syndrome!!

This reminds me of my super Star Wars freak hubby!!! There is a SHRINE on his nightstand which, I'm embarrassed(sp? ) to admit, includes a "FULL SIZED, EXACT REPLICA OF THE ORIGINAL DARTH VADER LIGHTSABER"

Oh, I don't know how I ever contain my frantic excitement when he puts this baby on right before BED!!!! Voom, voom, vooooom (not sure how to type that 'Lightsaber noise', but, I'm sure, you know what sound I mean)!!!!!!!

Might explain why I'm usually ALL NIGHT LONG!!!

Husbands are worse than the kiddos some times!
