Last Minute Trip... Have I totally lost my mind?!?

Hi everyone!

I'm looking for a little "What would you do" advice to help me make a decision.....

I was innocently searching the internet this morning when my Walt Disney World jones attacked me.

I found a flight to Orlando on Thursday for $270 (not bad from here). I found a rate at the Grosvenor for $473 for five nights (again, not bad). That instant thoughts of MVMCP and Walt Disney World at holiday time (which I've never experienced) and Wishes and Mission: Space began dancing through my head.

My dilemma: should I do it?!?

The pluses: My AP will expire on 12/28- so this would sort of be a last hurrah for it. This is my first weekend off since August-- it'd be nice. And finally, it'll probably be my last chance to go before January 2005.

The minuses: I think this might be NUTS! I wonder if it will be worth it to go down there with no planning, no PS, no nothing!

So, what would you do? Anyone out there ever make a trip this last minute and still really enjoy it?

Looking forward to hearing your opinions....

Thanks,

If you can truly afford it - GO!!! Impromptu Disney magic is sometimes the best kind! You've gotten great deals on the flight and the hotel and you have a valid AP - give me one good reason why you SHOULDN'T go!

DH and I often dream about taking last minute trips to WDW when the kids are on their own. When I don't have teenagers at home you can bet I'll be doing the same thing!

Enjoy! :sunny:

I think you should, you haven't been off in a while, you have found good prices, your AP is still good... if you can afford it...go!:D

Go for it! That's how I travel ALL the time! I don't plan in advance. Just yesterday I made train reservations for my VA trip in 19 days! I still have to get the hotel, car, etc. Have a GREAT time!!!

Hit the world!! You are blessed to have this opportunity. It doesn't make you nuts if you go, just fortunate! I agree, no planning can bring many surprises. Lucky you! :) Let me know if you want company! ;)

This past Monday morning had the same experiance. By 4:30pm was in the car headed to WDW. AP expired Sunday. Holiday decorations and CP were worth the trip.

Just go!!!

I remeber as a kid watching my friends get picked up from school beacuse their parents had decided THAT MORNING to go to WDW. Mom tried to talk my dad into it once when i was in 7th grade, but he said no. She always says we should have done it cause we didn't get there till almost 4 years later. I say GO. have an amazing time.

Wow!! Thanks for the quick replies!

If it weren't for that dang AP, I'd never be able to do it.... and is it ever COLD here today....

Oh boy, I think I'm very close to biting the bullet on this one...

Go for it. Lots of us Disers will be there during that time period--I'm travelling down Thursday as well. Check out the meets boards if you go and you'd like to meet some Disers. There's lots going on. I've organized a couple of Jellyrolls meets on Friday and Saturday, and you're welcome to come to both of them.

Be sure to let us know if you book!

Go for it! You can't let that AP go with another trip - you gotta get your money's worth

:sunny:

GO! GO! GO!

Don't even think about it, just do it. :teeth: You will have a great time.

When opportunity knocks!!!! Go for it. You have such a great time even without the planning. Just to experience MMVMCP would do it for me.

I vote with everyone else -- Go, Go, Go!!!! If you can afford it, don't worry about PSs or anything. Just go and absorb the magic -- :teeth:

If you have the $$ I say go!!! We did a "spur of the moment" trip one year in March and had a blast!!

Let us know what you decide!

Go for it!

Have you stayed at the Grosvenor? We stayed there several years ago and were extremely disappointed. The room was really old and the transportation was terrible.

I checked through WDW reservations and there is availability at the All Star Sports (the only one I checked) for pretty much the same price.

Regardless of where you stay, you'll be at Disneyworld!!!! I'd go if I had to sleep in the car!

I agree with Jenny. I'd go for an All Stars. But, I'd go. I did the same thing once. I only had a week notice before I made the trip. It was at a busier time - in April.

I also say get a room at one of the All Stars ($447 for the 5 nights on expedia.com) and have FUN!

As for no PS's, the parks most likely won't be so crowded that you'd need them most of the time anyway.

I love spur of the moment people like us! We usually do spur of the moment trips and they are the most magical and memorable of all:wizard: princess:
Have a great time!:teeth:
