Our trip is almost here.....we leave on Thursday!:cool1:

Wasn't sure where to post this..but spend most of my time on the boards here.

Just a couple of last minute questions.

1. Will we need to bring bug spray for the parks & Typhoon Lagoon?

2. Are flip-flops OK for getting between attractions at TL or should we bite the bullet and buy water shoes for everyone?

3. Is it true that you have to show your room card every time you get on a ride for evening EMH or do they still do wristbands?

4. I have a GAD certificate that I want to upgrade to WP & more with my Disney Rewards dollars. Is it true that I just give the person at the ticket window my CC and the rewards dollars can be used immediately for the upgrade?

5. We've never been in June & expect rain here & there. Would you recommend a locker for ponchos, umbrellas, dry socks etc.?

Can't wait !!!!

I'd bring bug spray, simply because it's EXPENSIVE to buy it there if you need it...trust me.;)

The lockers for umbrellas/ponchos, etc. doesn't seem feasible, because by they time you get to the locker...you'll be soaked. Just pack ponchos, they're usually enough.

The other questions, I can't fully answer so I'll leave that to others...

I havent been to the water parks in several years but I remember just going bare foot from ride to ride. if you take flip flops youd have to carry them on the ride with you. I would bite the bullet and buy water shoes. And that way when you go on kali river rapids or if it does start to rain you can bring them to the parks with you.

I would bring bug spray. OFF now makes towellets I'd get those because then you dont have to worry about the bottle spilling and they take up less room in your day bag

In Dec. you got wrist bands for EMH

I wouldn't do a locker they are in the far front of the parks and a hike to get to and takes away precious park time bring a back pack, and pack gallon and sandwich size zip lock bags they are great for absolutely everything. (I would however get a locker at typoon lagoon)

I learned this the hard way on Kali River Rapids ;) My shoes and socks were soaked, of course I was the only one to get "really" wet! Had to go buy new socks and had to squeeze as much water out of my shoes as I could. Walking in them did the trick! I also had to buy a towel, I was really soaked! This trip I am forgoing the socks/tennis shoes and will be wearing Keen knock-offs! If they get wet it really won't matter.

I thought they did away with the wristbands for EMHs well over a year ago. (Had them in May08, were gone in May09). They do use them for the parties, but not for regular EMHs. Yes, we had to show our room key at each attraction. It really did not take much time, but I would suggest that one person carry all the cards in an easily accessible spot so you can hand them to the CM and put them right back without losing any.

Ponchos are great for rain. We went during the record rains last May and needed them most of the day every day. If we did happen to take them off, we had a little bag to put them all in that we could leave in the stroller. (If it is predicted to rain a lot, bring a baseball cap for each person. This will keep your faces from getting wet and water dripping inside your ponchos.) People seemed to be very careless with umbrellas. I felt like I spent the entire trip dodging umbrellas. Even when they were folded, people kept hitting my kids' strollers with them, sticking them out on benches or busses for others to trip over, or letting their kids use them to sword fight in crowded areas. I also would not want to carry them around all day.

We have never needed bug spray at Disney. We will often visit family in FL before heading to Disney. I can't even walk from the house to the car without being covered in mosquito bites, but none of us have ever received one bite while on Disney property.

OP here..........Thanks for the replies and suggestions.

Can anyone answer my Disney Visa Rewards question?

I believe you need to request your rewards dollars either before you go OR at DTD at guest services you can get your rewards dollars there i dont believe that you RD can just be accessed that way.

I was planning on requesting mine at least 3 weeks before I leave in December

You need to get a rewards card to use your rewards points. Call the number on your card, and they can confirm you can get a reward card at their DTD kiosk. It takes a couple of weeks via mail....

We leave Thursday too!
We go anually to Blizzard Beach and have invested in water shoes, the best investment yet. We can walk all over the park and not worry about someone else's foot injury or spit ending up on the bottom of our feet. We did see blood one time on a path to a slide.

Just returned from WDW yesterday and from the bug bites on my legs -- YES you will need bug spray. No wristbands for EMH - just your room keys. It rained every afternoon for the week that we were there so rain ponchos will most likely be needed. The best investment that I made was a water mister/fan - I think it saved my life several days when it was soooo hot.
