My DH this weekend said that he would like to do a short trip to WDW for his birthday. As his birthday is in January, I told him we wouldn't be able to plan until after I get my Christmas bonus. Has anyone gotten a DVC reservation with less than 30 days to their check-in? We'd know by December 23rd if we could go, and we'd check-in on January 21st. Thanks for your help.

We extended a September ressie once just 24 hours ahead. I called MS the day before we left, because we had a flight change, and needed to arrive a day early. MS had no problems adding a night just 24 hours out, but that was a very slow time at the resorts.

We just recently got a 2 night reservation at SSR within 48 hours of check in. I would think in January you should have no problems if you don't need to stay at a specific resort. The only thing I could see as a busy time is Martin Luther King Weekend if people are doing a weekend getaways.

We were able to get a studio at OKW once with less than 6 hours notice. We were driving down and had planned to spend the night in Georgia, but decided to keep driving and go straight through to WDW. We called MS from the road and they were able to get us a room that night.

We were able to get an 8 night stay at OKW (1 bdrm) with 3 weeks notice(it was the 1st week of F&W by the way), the we had to adjust the days and come 3 or 4 days late because of the hurricanes last year, and they were able to move everything ahead no problem. It wasn't the busiest time - but when I called, they offered me VWL, SSR, OKW, and BWV for all 8 nights for our dates.

Last Dec. I closed on a contract with expiring points and was able to make a reservation for Jan.--a 1 BR at OKW for 5 days. One night wasn't available (the Sun. before MLK), but I waitlisted and it came through a couple of days later.

Thanks everyone for your reassurance. We would just want a studio and it doesn't really matter which resort, though I have preferences. My DH would love a romantic getaway for his birthday and WDW due to our DVC would be less than almost anywhere else.

I've called and made res. for that night...its a gamble though.

We were down in April and were getting a "deal" for $99 weekend to sit through a timeshare presentation on International Dr. We checked in, got directions to our resort, and drove on over. I agreed to do this to get to WDW and avoid weekend point charges. We got to our resort, checked in at the front desk and went back to our room. DW literally walked through the door to the room, turned around and said she would not stay here. :sad2: It had the feel of a low end motel, and that's being generous. I got on the phone with MS and was checking into a studio at OKW within 2 hrs!!!!

Got you beat. During Hurricane Francis, we got stranded in Orlando (long story involving a delayed DCL cruise) and I called at 6:30 am (had to call the resort directly) and got a nice CM who was able to get us in on points for the next two nights at BCV. We drove over from International Drive and checked in. We also called at 11 am one day while driving outside of Nashville and got the last DVC room ( a preferred 1BR at BWV) for that same night. We drove through all excited (though we didn't tell DSD what we were doing, and until we got there she had no clue even though she was in the car when I called on the cell phone!) So, last minute availability might be there if you are patient and flexible, but no guarantees.

Oooooops, make that 3 times. Went to OKW on March 31st for 5 days ---made the ressie about 1 week ahead of time.....we got exactly what we wanted.....How could I forget that, it was just last month!!!!!!!!!!!!! :rolleyes1
