Last minute reservations

We are waiting to close on our resale, and will add on right away if we can book a studio anywhere for our already planned vacation. I think that the only good thing about our vacation is that it is during a slow time, (Sept 2-9).
What happens if you want to make a reservation less than a month out. Do the DVC rooms become available for CRO if they haven't been used by DVC within 30 days, or does DVC just leave those rooms empty.
Just wondering if we had any chance of getting something if we had to book in Aug for our beginning of Sept vacation.

Room inventory not reserved at 60 days out is turned over to CRO, but it can be reclaimed by DVC, if they aren't already rented or used by CRO. But, remember that CRO will be using a lot of those rooms for upgrades this year, so they may already be spoken for, and will not be available to DVC

I can't comment on all the CRO/DVC stuff, but I can tell you about my experience.

We booked a 1 bedroom at OKW a little less than 2 weeks out for July 6-13th. At that time, the only studios available for our entire stay were at SSR (there were a few random nights at other resorts - VWL was entirely booked, but all the others had the Sat night available and OKW and BWV had a couple weeknights). When I started calling, about a month out, SSR and OKW both had studios available for our entire stay. I called nearly every other day before I finally made the decision to stay in a 1 bedroom at OKW - I didn't ask about other 1 bedrooms b/c OKW was the only place we had enough points to stay in a 1 bedroom.
