Last Minute Reservation Results

We closed the last week of October, points were there the beginning of November... We got 19 nights at SSR in a studio and did not have to move for Christmas/New Years weeks....

Hi, Just this past week I was able to book 2/28-3/4 in a 1 bedroom at BWV,garden/pool view.(SSR and OKW were also available) I was VERY happy with this as we LOVE walking over to Epcot!! :thumbsup2 Joan

As the opportunity to book the Disney Collection is removed from the membership (all new resales starting Mar 21), it may be harder to book DVC villas. So the people that might have booked a cruise for 400+ points now will be using them at DVC instead.

Just closed on our DVC membership and called to book as soon as I could. Were able to get BWV Preferred View 9 1/2 weeks out. We will be there a week b4 easter week--4/9-4/16. Pretty lucky to get bwv, but we were also very flexible on dates and locations.

:cheer2:

Woot Woot! I just got the email from my agent that we closed today! I can't wait until I can call Disney and make our first reservation.

Hopefully, we can get something for the first week in April still. Iknow that it's short timing, but my fingers are crossed. I'm going to try calling on Friday to see if we are set up.

I need to set up my disboard signature now. SSR owner since March 2011!

Congratulations! Good luck getting your reservations.

Here's another anecdote for you:

Just this morning we decided to check availability at WDW for Apr 6-10 to set up a surprise trip celebrating our daughter's 5th birthday (that reminds me, I need to update her picture over there on the left!). I called this morning and was able to get a studio for all 4 nights with no problems. The CM said they had limited availability for those nights at OKW, SSR, and AKV Kidani Village. We ended up going with Kidani for the first 3 nights and BCV for the last night, since we've never stayed there before. We've had similar luck a couple other times with last-minute reservations, so it's definitely possible.

We had to cancel our Dec 2010 Christmas week trip (Dec 19 to 24) and I rebooked in late December for a February 2011 stay (Feb 9-14). We got the very same accomodations, 1 BR Standard view AKL Kidani. So that is about 6 weeks before check-in, and we were fine. However, we were coming in during a relatively low season, so I imagine during peak season it must be harder to get a reservation without having to do a split stay.
Anyway, enjoy your points! Many happy vacations to you and yours! :goodvibes

Just to let everyone know, our points were set up in our account yesterday and I was able to make reservations for a dedicated 2 bedroom at SSR for April 3rd - 9th. This was the only resort that they could get us into, but it is our home resort, so that is a great way to start our first visit home!

:cool1:

Now we get to wait 3 more weeks until we go down there! One thing you can say is that Disney sure gets you to look forward to more waiting. I can't wait to get into the line for Soarin' now....

Welcome to DVC! These boards are great, but one thing I have learned is that what some people "think" and what some "have experience with" are 2 different things. Asking what people think or asking what their experience is so you can make an informed decision can get you 2 different answers.

That said, we have had great luck booking last minute (20-60 days out). Two years ago we booked somewhere between 30-45 days. The only 1 bdrm available was AKV CL for 4 nights. I couldn't believe it. I didn't even know there was such a thing. This was the week prior to Easter btw, so it fell during premier season. We did have to move to SSR for the last night of our stay, but we had never been so we didn't mind. Loved the resort, SSR that is. AKV doesn't do anything for us, but we were on vacation so we didn't care.

Last year we booked our trip in the fall for spring break. We own at OKW and that is where we prefer to be. In under 30 days I decided I wanted to try BLT. I was able to get a room for 2 nights (end of our stay)-1 bdrm. This was also during premier season - week following Easter. We have in the past also gotten BCV at the last minute for a 1-2 night stay. We do like to try the other resorts and usually book them for 1-2 nights at the end of our trip. I think every time we have tried we have gotten it without any waitlist. Again, this has been 20-60 days from check in.

So, is it possible? Yes, quite possible from my perspective. Others may have not been so lucky, but we don't obsess and are go with the flow kind of people so if it didn't work out, it wouldn't be a big deal.

We will be there the same time. :cool1: Enjoy your first trip as DVC members.

1st week of June last year we jumped in the car and called MS from the middle of GA. Hoped we had a shot at SSR or OKW at least. Got BWV boardwalk view for the next 2 nights. :cool1:

Short trips are a lot easier than longer, full week trips.

My first dvc year I got 2 nights bcv and 7 nights vwl about 2 months out. I have also booked bwv preferred 5 weeks out and gotten very lucky at akv jambo - once a value studio and once standard. I usually have to call a lit. I've also booked discounted room at pop and when I got lucky cancelled pop,

We got a week at AKV Kidani savanna view one bedroom for the first of May two months out. I never thought that would happen!! :cool1:

I know but the crazy thing was that we could have stayed longer. We stayed Wed & Thurs and the entire weekend was available. We had made other plans so we couldn't stay. :sad1: I'm just glad we tried.......you never know.........hope we're as lucky in the future if we decide to try it again.

I just found out that I could take Friday off of work, so we could add a night to the beginning of our stay if it was available. SSR was available, but they could also get us a Savannah 2 bedroorm at AKV Kidani, or a 2 bedroom at BCV for Saturday night. We decided to make it a split stay, so now we will be at BCV an extra night. This worked out perfectly for us as it spent the last 55 points we had for 2010 (and I have 1 less day to wait for our first trip home). I'm geeked!

I know that this may not be typical of late availability, but I'm overjoyed at my first experience!
