We leave in August (25) and are supposed to drive but I am wondering if there are ever last minute deals on airfare from nj to Mco?

I guess I'm starting to dread the drive HOME already lol

Very unlikely, especially during a high demand time. Airfares usually increase the closer to departure. If I were traveling in August, I would have already purchased my ticket.

Not for that late in August. We travel the last week of August every summer and the best deals are usually found in late June or early July. However, with that said, there seem to be fewer flights all around and prices have not been dropping as they had in the past. I usually would book JetBlue from ROC to MCO for about $119 one way, they would usually drop to about $89 in early summer, so I would get a credit.

Now fast forward to this year and flights were pretty steep from the time I started looking (Feb/Mar). When I found something I could live with I booked it (mid-April). United $224 r/t Aug. 25 to Sept 2nd. Gas prices were on the steady rise when I was looking and I didn't want to chance waiting until late June/early July this year.

So, is it too late? Maybe, but there is a good chance that you'll find something. Look especially Monday nights into Wednesday mornings for deals on airfare. Tuesdays seem to be the day I find the best deals.

Just searched my dates and found $242. So for a Saturday night, that is pretty good!

There isn't much detail about location and length of stay, but I made a guess.

Just did a search using IT Matrix. Leaving August 25 from LaGuardia (LGA) to MCO for 7 nights, yielded a price of $265 on AirTran, #331 on JetBlue, and $341 on US Air.

If any of these look appealing, try to see your self on their website. Can't hurt to look.

Good luck!

August 25th to September 3rd--(it is in her signature).

I really think that anything $250 range is acceptable for r/t flights from the NE to FL. For us, anything lower than that is a deal. As I said above OP, check on Tuesday morning and throughout the day, that seems to be the best day to grab a decent price.
