Last Minute Discounts

Does DCL offer any last minute discounts on either the Wonder or the Magic. By last minute, I mean 3 weeks-6 weeks prior to sailing.

DCL does not offer last-minute discounts except for some Florida Resident specials but even those are generally offered before the timeframe you mentioned. The best prices with DCL are with early-booking savings so you are best off booking as early as possible. Other cruise lines, however, often offer these kinds of specials.

Disney does not discount at "last minute" like other cruise lines do. I guess they always go pretty full so they don't need to.
The demand for Disney is always there!

The big discount is by booking early, booked 9 months ago and my price for August has increased by $1650!

I have a brother who works for Disney corporate. He says that the Late Booking discounts go to the cast members so they can take a cruise at a discount rate. He did make a note that he is only allowed to book 2 weeks in advance for the cruise. The problem is not so much the short cruise time required, but their 2-year-old child.

Much like Disney had an allotment of how many people they can have on a boat, they also have an allotment of how many children are allowed on the boat. This never affects the consumer because we pay retail price for the cruise. This allotment tells the staff if they need to hire more people to work in the child care service or not. For paying customers, Disney has no problem adding more staff. But for cast members who get a large discount (I think it's almost half the price), it does not pay to have them cruise if there are too many children on the boat already.

Guess we got lucky
We booked 26 mos in advance and got really good EB prices. However, one year later instead of Fall Fantasy promo Disney cut rates across the board and our original price was cut by $175. pp! Thanx to a great TA we reeped big savings for 9 adults and you'll hear no complaints here
