Last Man on Earth

:worship::laughing::thumbsup2 Will Forte is perfection...CS asked me to DVR it and I ended up watching it. Looking forward to next week .

I saw some of it, because nothing else seemed to be on, and my husband was interested in what it was all about.

I might be the odd man out, but I didn't like it, at all!

Any show where the writers used that one word/topic in the FIRST sentence of the FIRST episode.
And then, a couple times more after that....
Not impressed. :sad2:

It is an interesting 'premise'.
And, I DO think they nailed it in some ways....

But, I def. did not like the set-up to the situation.

I don't know if I should mention anything that would be a spoiler...
But, the only thing I found interesting or entertaining was the scene when he finds 'something', hanging at the camp-site!!!!

OMG... I did laugh at that!!!!

I didn't like the girl at all she annoyed me. I find the show to be really fun in spots and horrible in other spots. I hope he get a backstory more about the virus and how they survived and what happened to all the bodies. I know that gross but I need to know lol

I watched it out of curiousity, but I do have to say my DH *loved* it! He's kind of a neanderthal, so would love to be the last man on earth and able to do anything he wants ;)!

I would always be worrying about injuring myself or getting sick and dying slowly. The main character kept on shooting out glass, stepping on glass, etc, and I would just wince!

Interesting. I was happy to see Kristen Schaal. I

She does play the perfect foil to his character though. I love Kristen Schall!

While I am not a fan, at all... (yet)

If we are not going to worry about any spoilers.

I did find it very interesting how they set it up that he is like, out of it, dreaming of this Victoria's Secret model-beautiful woman.. And then when he opens his eyes, it is HER (Kristen)... (like the total opposite in looks and character type) And she ends up waving a gun at him!!!!

I will have to admit that this was one of the 'details' of that one scene that I did notice and appreciate.
Don't know if that 15 seconds was worth sitting thru the rest of the show????

And, OMG, neanderthal... doesn't begin to describe this guy!!!! :scared:
Unfortunately, this is one of the things that they came close to 'nailing'.
Not that I want to see or admit it.
But, hey.....

I don' think we are going to see any big apocalyptic dramatic scenes or backstory.
I really don't
This isn't what this is all about.
This is all about the their relationship, and how they are going to be forced to make it work. And how he is such a, well, clueless neanderthal, and she has to 'fix' him.
(same as the thing that I do not like about the movie 50 Shades, where he is "50 shades of screwed up" and she, as the woman, has to take on the responsibility to 'fix' him.)

Seriously, the FIRST thing she does is go and start to clean up his place???
I think that just kind of made me sick :crazy2: and go :sad2: at the same time.

Just like the initial intro to the show, using that one word... and as if that wasn't enough... repeating it along in the script! If there is any good entertainment in this show... I don't know if I could stomach watching it long enough to find those 'moments'.

I Just saw the show, and it was alright. Not sure if it's something I'll watch on a regular basis.

I am looking forward to it as 'fluff" entertainment. It's fun to watch stress free silly shows and Will/Phil was pretty darn funny to me with facial expressions, comedic timing etc. Honestly I was kind of bummed when they introduced a second character so quickly~ I was hoping for some more outrageous situations that showed really being out there on your own. The initial topic wore thin, a little too much overkill on it. I think the character of Phil is spot on tho, as to the "who cares?" frame of mind. The annoying, exact opposite being introduced is so far, been there , done that for me. I hope they lay off that conflict because that will make me loose interest and that will be a bummer since I like the Phil character.

I am enjoying it so far, but time will tell if this premise of only two people left on earth will be sustainable. It works for a movie (Castaway), but an entire tv series? We'll see if they can manage to keep things interesting. I knew that Phil would HAVE to meet up with at least one more person at some point, but I didn't know it would be in the first episode.

As for all the backstory about the virus and blah blah blah, I wouldn't hold my breath on that. This is a comedy, and I don't really think the logistics of how humanity got wiped out is really important. "The virus" is just a flimsy means of getting the two characters where they are. I mean really, the settings don't even look like they've been ravaged by any sort of apocalyptic horror. Even the grocery store that Phil went to was neat, orderly, and fully stocked (which is not likely unless the virus literally took the whole world overnight. But then where are all the bodies?). Anyway, I wouldn't overthink it. Everyone is gone on the whole earth except for two people. That's all you really need to know! :)

Haha, I wondered about the bodies too! We watched and will watch again. I also question how they will sustain this long term. I feel like the first episode really rushed through the whole alone thing. We loved the part when he was bowling with all the crazy things. It would have been fun to see more of those type - what would you do if totally alone type situations. I would have liked to see more about what he did while traveling through all the states. Maybe introduce the 2nd character a little later.

I thought it was pretty funny. I wish he would have changed his underwear, though.. yuck!

And the marriage proposal made me laugh out loud!

Same here, would like to have seen a lot more of the "alone" scenarios and travel. Would have preferred he even found 2nd character in another state, from say, up north just to have more contrast.

Who watched last night? I don't know, I want to like it and I love Will Forte but I'm struggling with this. The concept is good but I would change so many things about how it's playing out. Next week should be interesting but I don't like where it's headed. Plus it was not so family friendly last night. DD15 was not comfortable but she is pretty reserved about those situations.

I like it BUT... it drives me batty that the grocery stores are clean... why are the stores clean when there was virus that wiped out human civilization. No panic? Did people just die peacefully and bury the dead? I WANNA KNOW. o_O And they better have a good explanation.

I'm still on board but I am not a January Jones fan so that bummed me out a bit.

Watching this show makes me fantasize about how flippin' awesome it would be to have the whole world to myself for just a couple of months... :rolleyes1

I think it's hilarious that a hot blonde shows up now after Phil already "married" Carol, but dang! I was expecting him to be by himself for at least a little while, and here there's already two other people in the first three episodes! I guess that's really what they meant by calling it The Last Man on Earth.
