Last Chance for a Summer Vacation Experience- August 2016 Weight Loss and Lifestyle Change Challenge

In in the club too! My endo told me to wait an hour :sad: I also have to take a morning dose of hydrocortisone to replace cortisol, so I have no cortisol wakening response without adrenal glands. So the first half hour is basically trying to wake up and move anyhow.

At least I only haf the thyroid meds... But you and @Zim have me wondering now if I should go on the one hour before food schedule, too. That would be annoying. But I guess I could just bring my breakfast to the office with me...

Question of the Day

Since Disney loves to prep you for the ride, what do prep over the weekend to help your week?

Do you prep breakfasts or lunches?
Do you cook extra so at least one meal during the week is easy?

Does prepping for the week help make it easier for you?

Have a happy and healthy day.

I do meal prep every Sunday! Since I'm significantly more broke than I have been in the past I've taken to creating large amounts of freezer meals to last me through the month. I try to make them as healthy as possible so that I can fill up on veggies and fruit and just have these freezer meals on the side. Having dinners and lunches pre-cooked and waiting for me make it so much easier to make healthier choices. I'm much less likely to get in my car and drive to a fast food place if I can just pop something in the microwave and have a dinner ready to go in 3 minutes.

This has been a rough week, of course. My bosses wanted to take me out to lunch since I'm "relatively" new to the team. And they chose a bar...with greasy bar food. To top it off, this month I've had to switch to a low dose of estrogen in my BCP so I'm hungry and exhausted. And I've somehow managed to injure myself and haven't run in a week. Just wanted to whine for a moment haha. But today is a fresh day and I at least haven't gained this week. So I'll consider that a win. Maybe I'll be able to lose a little something before weigh-in tomorrow.

I don't do any prep work on the weekends, and that is part of my problem. I've been working on the house for a week, in anticipation of having people over this weekend. It was going to be an outdoor party because my ALS SIL can't get up my front steps, but now it's predicted to rain and the ramp to get her out of her house isn't done, so we're going to be inside my house and people will take turns going over to see her (they live next door). So long story short, now I really need to go even deeper cleaning and organizing, which will also help set me up for being better organized about my meals.

So grateful it is Friday and really looking forward to my time off next week. It's the perfect mix of a couple days out of town and a couple days at home. And with all the cleaning I'm doing to get ready for the party, I won't be having undone chores staring me in the face!

Have a happy and healthful weekend everyone!

Am I the only one that is afraid to touch anything while at a Disney park and find myself constantly washing my hands or using a "pocket bac" from Bath and Body Works to keep the germs away? This question made me realize that I am a big germ phobe! :P

For prep.... we do some prep on Sunday after we grocery shop, but it's mostly meal planning that keeps it easy for us. Having items that are already prepped from Whole Foods is a godsend. Just put it in a pan, ready to go!

Put me in the "non-Prep" camp as well. We do plan meals, and I have to do some logistical planning of when we will eat dinner and what we will eat based upon what's going on for the week, so for example, if we are in the throws of school and sports, there is usually a night when we MUST have a crock pot meal because we may have exactly 20 minutes to eat before the next kid has to be somewhere - with no time to prepare ahead of time. So, I do plan that - labor intensive dinners when I can be home to make them; simple or crock pot meals on days when I'm on the run. But I don't make extra portions, rarely have leftovers for lunch, etc.

The majority of my meals are grab and go single components anyway, so there's not much prep. An average lunch is a sausage (microwave for a minute) a cut up portion of fruit and a portion of cheese. Maybe if I had more involved meals, I would do more prep!

I'll start making up a monthly menu at least so that will help.

I go through phases of being organised or far from it .... I have been far from it the last few weeks and my eating and my wallet have been feeling it! When I do pre-prep it does make it somewhat easier for the week. I had already been thinking the last couple of days that I need to make a monthly food plan this weekend - that way I can buy in bulk and also hopefully same some $$$ that way as well - I just feel like I have been spending/wasting too much money due to poor planning and takeout options recently. So you question was great timing Dona and I'm with Kristie about the monthly plan!:-)

I am feeling horrible this morning ... I am laying on the couch coughing and spluttering trying to work up the motivation to take the boys to hockey!

HAPPY WEEKEND EVERYONE!! :D

I'm taking a break from cleaning out my closet and dresser drawers - and it feels SO GOOD to just get everything organized. I bought two hanging clothes organizers for my sweaters and misc bulky clothes and already I feel like there's a HUGE difference in space. I was so sad that I invested in so many pieces of long sleeves only to find out that basically... So Cal had a mild winter and it was over 85 degrees in Mid-February.

Out with the old and in with the new - mostly Lilly Pulitzer and Lularoe right now with some misc pieces still in there. Oh my!

I'll post pics later. have fun tonight watching the olympics. We're taping it so we can skip all the "boring stuff".

I know there are good few people that lost 40+ lbs on this forum. Can I ask question please? I have been loosing weight since April, slowly and steady and I am 10kg down. I have about 4 more until I reach happy weight

I felt very tired and run down last week and had maintenance level calories for 5 days and cut the walking little. I am tempted to give myself few years break - keeping eye on calories and being active of course but without trying to lose weight. I would love to be at my goal soon, for sure before 22nd of October when is our WDW trip

How did you cope months after the start? Did you had moments you are really tired and feel run down? Did you need a break or plan adjustment

And Whoo Hoo of last week (didn't have one on Wednesday as I felt run down) ... We booked cheap flights to California for 2017! I am looking forward being at 3rd Disney destination. Not mad on Paris, love WDW - hope California will be love too!

Good Friday Morning

Disney World is all about rides but it is also about what happens before the rides.

Some of the best parts of the ride is the line before you get on the ride.

They have been trying to have interactive lines to keep you entertained while you wait.

Haunted Mansion is his favorite ride since his birthday is Halloween.
I also had to include dh since today is our 38th anniversary.

Apparently I forgot to answer yesterday :). I do not prep for the week. But lately I have been buying prepackaged snacks since that is probably my biggest downfall during the day. I always wait too long to eat and then am starving and just eat whatever I can find quick. I always stayed away from the pre packaged snacks before because they are more money but I am letting go of that thinking. I am trying to tell myself whatever it takes to me healthy.

I am struggling this week with sort of an injury. My leg has been bothering me and while it goes away when I am running it lingers throughout the day. With Dumbo Double Dare coming up I am trying to take it easy so I don't get injured but it is so stressful because I have to run. I am trying to incorporate more strength training especially for my hamstring to see if it helps. I feel like I am between a rock and a hard place at this point and just needed to vent, Thanks for listening!

Oh no -- that's not good at all! Have you thought about cross training - instead of running maybe jumping on a bike or swimming in a pool? It may allow for the muscles to work themselves right again. There's also nothing wrong with taking a few days off too?

I can't believe that Dumbo is almost here!!!

Sorry I haven't been on yet today. We had a lawn mowing appointment this morning and by the time we got done and got home a good part of the day was gone.

Welcome to the weekend. Today and tomorrow I will take you on a couple of rides that are relaxing, which is something you don't always have at Disney World. Today we will take on the RiverboatP1030267 (640x480).jpg

There is not a lot of places to sit on the boat but the views are a lot of fun.
During the ride you pass by the Haunted Mansion and Splash Mountain.

My favorite views are of Big Thunder Railroad and Tom Sawyer Island.

A couple of quick facts about Big Thunder

While Big Thunder Mountain Railroad has an average top speed of 30 miles per hour, guests riding in the late afternoon and evening will have a wilder experience. The grease on the tracks gets thinner as the sun heats it up, so as the day goes on, your train ride will be faster, with tops speeds reaching up to 33 miles per hour. Sit in the back car to feel an even faster ride.

If you’re riding Big Thunder Mountain Railroad at night, check out the window of the second floor of the saloon. The patrons of the salon can be seen having a wild party. Nighttime is a great time to take a ride and enjoy the twinkling lights of the Magic Kingdom as you zip around the tracks.

I am a morning person. I always have been. When I was teaching I loved to have all my classes in the morning because I seem to be more awake then. By 6 or 7 I am starting to fade. When I am working on costuming a show we will meet at 6 and try to get out by 8 because I know I will not get much done after that. It does make it a little harder during tech week but we have a director who never runs past 10.

When I was teaching I found out that I was more productive on Wednesday. I don't know why but I could get through a stack of papers faster on Wednesday than any other day.

It takes me a while to get going in the morning most days - so an evening person. When I was studying I was always most productive in the evenings after the kids were settled into bed - then I would be up quite late though - but no matter how hard I tried, if I tried to work on assignments/study through the day I just could not focus and would find lots of other 'jobs' to do - even though the kids were at school and I had the house to myself :confused3. House work wise I feel like I need a 3 day weekend - Saturday at the moment is spent with sport for half the day - then I just seem to crash in the afternoon (even though I'm not playing haha), Sunday after a slowish start - I begin to get moving but then run out of time and wish I could have Monday to finish it off! At work so many things influence my productiveness - its hard to pick a day.

Reporting in: I am at a great big 0% of my goal - I am still feeling unwell - I will get working on it as soon as I feel well enough.

I'd say I'm more of an evening person. I have to be at work at 7:00 and don't drag myself out of bed until about 6:15. Luckily I only live about 8 minutes from work! My DH is definitely a morning person and I always say I wish his morning energy would rub off on me, but it hasn't for 24 years, so I doubt it ever will!

I've never thought about what day I'm most productive, but I guess I'd have to say Thursday. By Thursday, I'm super focused on everything that I need to get done for the week and I don't want to have my back against the wall on a Friday, so I push to get things accomplished.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend. We are having beautiful weather here - high in the low 80s. Trying to figure out something fun to do tomorrow since it will be the last weekend day that we will all have together before the girls head off to school. We've come up with going to the zoo, Six Flags, Cardinals baseball game, or just picking a fun place to eat and see what the day brings. We haven't been to the zoo in quite a few years so that would be fun. We have season passes to Six Flags even though we usually only go a couple of times a year, so that would be pretty cheap. We haven't all been to a Cards game together this year and it's Christian Day at the ballpark, so it would be fun hearing some of their stories, but it would be a pretty pricey day. If we did the eat out and go from there day, the problem would be that none of us are great decision makers, so we may end up just "stuck" for something to do. Oh well, we'll figures something out!

I know! Tomorrow is my second to last long run! Super excited!!
I took an extra rest day to see if that helps, I am really hoping more rest and strength training do the trick.

I am so NOT a morning person! The kids are going back to school in a little over a week and I am dreading it. Nights are my thing, I frequently stay up until 1am (which might be a big reason I struggle with weight loss) As far as day of the week I don't think I have one day that I get more done. They all just seem to run together right now with summer break and being home most of the time.

You and me! I don't know to be honest, I may be happy with 0% for the month. I feel like I need little break.
