Last 2005 AAA rumour

A friend of mine called CRO yesterday and the CM told him that the AAA rates would get out in late august or early september.

We are owners of an AP for the first time. We are going to WDW between Dec. 27 and Jan 7. We already have our reservation for Dec. 27 to Jan. 1 at POP. We were thinking of making our reservation for Jan.1 to Jan. 7 at a Moderate with the AAA rate to make sure we have something. Then we would change it to an AP rate when it would get out in Nov. or Dec. Are we doing the right thing ?

We will probably use DU to do this reservation. Are they getting the best rates automatically or do we have to remind them when the AP rates come out ?

Yes, I think you are doing the right thing.

We are DVC members, but still do some trips at cash resorts.
We book them when we know our dates and don't pay much attention to the booking rate.
We watch for the AP rates, and IF and WHEN they are announced, we just call and get our rooms changed to that rate.

Has never failed yet, and we are always assured of at least having a room.

Also, no one will automatically give you the discount or even tell you about it--you will have to ask.
