Need tips for snagging a deal on flights/lodging during spring break. Not interested in gambling as I'll have 2 19yos with me--going to see The Lion King at Mandalay Bay. Woohoo!! Of course the girls want a great hotel on the Strip--and I'm o'kay with that but want a good deal. Not sure if it will be better to book a package or do air/lodging separately.

Thanks in advance for any guidance offered.

I just booked our flights on Southwest for our mid-winter break in February to Las Vegas. Very reasonable and if they come out with a special on Southwest or Ding! airfare I know I can get a credit. I have been on many hotel/casino sites and signed up for email specials from all of them. I am now getting specials for October through the end of January. One of them sent a special of 25% off through the end of February. So, I wouldn't expect specials for the hotels to come out until November for March/April specials. We are staying at Planet Hollywood for free for 3 nights using our Starwood points and then moving one block off the strip to a resort with a kitchen. :thumbsup2

We went 4 years ago to Vegas and our kids loved it! They will be 18 & 19 on this next trip. They just love walking through the casinos, watching the fountains at Bellagio, Freemont Street experience, etc. Just walking down Las Vegas Blvd. is exciting. There is so much to do that is free or low cost. We will be going to Red Rock State Park, Valley of Fire State Park, Lake Mead tour (we did Hoover Dam the last time), maybe head to Zion for a day. We are going to do the gondola ride at the Venetian for sure this time, because I will never get to the real Venice. Good luck .... you will love it! :woohoo:

Just got back from Vegas Wednesday night. We stayed at Encore and LOVED IT! Very luxurious. Found a great code at vegaspromoguide.com. I also recommend fatwallet & smartervegas for codes. Trip advisor has a great forum for Las Vegas which is very active. There are also a ton of restaurants on restaurant.com in Vegas. We ate at Stripburger, Cafe Ba Ba Reeba, and Grand Lux cafe. All 3 were great. Stripburger & Cafe Ba Ba Reeba are on restaurant.com.

I recommend booking airfare & hotel separately. I changed my hotel 3 times before we went by finding better deals, no penalty to change.

Good luck & have fun!

Since I go to Las Vegas several times a year for business and pleasure, I've stayed at almost every hotel on the strip in recent years. A few weeks ago, I got a promo for Mandalay Bay at $35 a night. Mandalay is not one of my faves so I didn't use it but it was certainly a good price.

My favorite, by far, is the Venetian. I love staying there. I love the mall area there, the rooms are gorgeous, there's so much to walk around and see, food choices are really good.

For more reasonably priced rooms, I think Paris is a good selection. It's centrally located, well themed, the shops at Planet Hollywood are right next door and the Forum shopping is a quick walk.

Thank you all so much!! Guess I'd better get busy checking out your suggestions!!
