Came over to join the fun.

A great start and looking forward to hearing all about it.

Yay you started your TR! I was sooo jealous seeing your pics on fb..I can't wait to read all about the trip! popcorn::

Yay! I kept a eye out for you, but never spotted you!
Can't wait to read the rest

I'm finally back and I subbed! It feels exciting to TRs.. and I think I am going to really like this TR because you were the Disney travel guides for newbies.. in hopes to make them love Disney. This is exactly what my plan was for my last trip with my parents- and now we are going to retry and go in Jan/Feb 2013 with my entire family this time. Excited! I can't wait to hear more! :goodvibes

I'm so excited to have so many readers, new and old!! Thank you all for joining in!!

Hey there! Saw your link on Facebook and decided to join in on the fun!

:welcome: Glad you're here!

I'm here and can't wait to read about your last adventure before your wedding and honeymoon!

:welcome: Hey Jill, glad you're here!

I am here and following along!:goodvibes I am so excited to see what happened on your trip!

:welcome: Glad you're here, Meghan!

Subbing! Though funnily enough I got here through your PJ and not the trip reports board/your PTR/any of your other threads I was subscribed to.. (I don't know, it's been a LOOONG day today. And I like lurking on people's PJs when I'm overly stressed. I hope your wedding planning has been going well though! :goodvibes)
\\

:welcome: Glad you're here! I'm happy you found your way over, no matter which way  I'm going to update my wedding PTR this weekend!

Joining in. :)

Hang in there with the teaching-I started out subbing too and luckily have a full-time educational assistant job now but am still dying for a classroom. It seems like the teaching job market sucks everywhere. :sad2:

On to happier things...LOL. YAY for arriving! Gotta love the Magical Express buses! :goodvibes Can't wait to see what your friends thought of WDW.

:welcome: Hey Sarah, thanks for joining in! The teaching job market is bad everywhere, you're right. From what I hear Florida loves teachers certified from NY so hopefully I'll have better luck when we move!

haha yes, we're there! I do love DME even if it takes a little longer than renting a car would.

I'm joining! Can't wait to hear how it went with two first-timers.

:welcome: Glad you're here!!

Yay! Great start to your TR. I can feel the excitement.

:welcome: Hey Mel, glad youre here!

I'm here!!! :goodvibes Great start to your trip with lots of pixie dust!! :thumbsup2

Hope you had a fabulous time and made some believers out of your friends!! :)

Tracy

:welcome: Glad you're here, Tracy! We were pixie dusted from the bat!

I'm here! I can't wait to read all about your trip with the 2 Disney newbies! :cool1:

Your arrival day sounds like it was pretty smooth! I really want to take the DME bus someday! I'm thinking of asking Brandon if we can just NOT rent a car this time and rely on the buses, but I have a feeling he will say no!

:welcome: Hey Jen, glad you're here! The DME bus is...magical! lol I am looking forward to renting a car though on our honeymoon!

I see you are from NY and love everything "NY sports", but I'm going to join anyway LOL! I'm from New England and although we don't share a love for the same sports teams, we do share a love of Disney!

Can't wait to follow along :yay:

:welcome: I'm happy to have you hear, even if you have poor choices in sports teams :rotfl: Just messing with ya!

You STARTED!! I LOVE it so far!! You're an awesome writer!! I can NOT wait until your next installment... infact, after seeing your link on fb through my cell, you're the only reason I turned on my computer haha!! It's so cool to see how people go to disney who live SO far away, but you get there in the same amount of time that I do (about 2 hours for me!) ... that's amazing :)

:welcome: Angie!! Glad you're here! The flight is easy peasy from us to FL. I wish we were that close by car though!

subscribing

:welcome: Glad you're here!

Count me in!!

:welcome: Glad you're here!

When I last left all you lovely TR readers, we were on DME, pulling into Pop! I was so excited I just kept snapping pictures

Since Disney was taking care of our luggage, we quickly hopped off of the bus…excuse me, motor coach, and hurried into Pop! We had done online check in and to keep the pixie dust we’d be getting so far going, there was no line at the part of the desk we had to go to! I was really happy we’d done online check in at this point because there was a bit of a line for regular check in! The rooms were in my name and Joe’s names so we stayed up by the CM with Sam and checked in while I sent Chris to take some pictures of the Pop lobby.

Chris’ paparazzi shots…you can see I changed into my Rangers shirt…I love Henrik Lundqvist!! Lol

You can also see that we’re checking in with a CM standing at the front of the line, not at the regular desk. She was there with a laptop and checked us in just like that. I’m assuming it’s just to keep the line moving and it was working! We were told our rooms were ready as soon as we got in…before 11:00! Also, they were adjoining like we’d requested! However, they were not in the 50s building like I’d requested and hoped for, but in the 80s building. I was a little leery of this so I politely asked if she would see if there was anything available in any other building. After a few minutes of searching, she saw the only rooms she had in the 50s building were not adjoining and not even near each other. So, we opted to keep the original rooms in the 80s building, rooms 9228 and 9229. We thanked her for her help and then walked out to the front of Pop again to get the mini-fridge from luggage services. I was a part of a fridge swap and it worked perfectly! Within minutes we were being escorted to our room by another wonderful CM, fridge in tow.

Here’s the view of our building from across the parking lot

Turns out this was a great room location! We were so close to the bus stops, all we had to do was walk down the steps from the 2nd floor and then across the parking lot and there were the buses. Classic Hall wasn’t very far away either but we didn’t spend very much time there anyway!

Before we knew it, we were at our rooms. I tried to take a few pictures before we trashed the place lol

It was clean and everything I expected. While no luxurious, Pop is more than enough for Chris and I! We love it there and the Disney feeling we get being there!

We plugged in our fridge and I got my park bag packed and then we waited. And waited. And waited some more. We wanted to get to a park! But apparently, our friends didn’t get the speed memo and were taking their time changing and getting themselves ready to head to Animal Kingdom. I tried to relax. It was only our first hours in Disney and I didn’t want to get all wound up already. I reminded Joe and Sam not to forget their room keys, park tickets or anything they might want while we were out of the room. Finally, at 11:50, we were on our way to head to our first park of the trip, Animal Kingdom!!

We got to the bus stop with our short walk.

029.jpg

After about 5 minutes of waiting, Sam asks Joe if he has their park tickets. He says no, she was supposed to be keeping track of them. Needless to say, they had to go back to the room. They forgot the tickets there. Ok, still, I’m trying to stay calm. Chris and I got off of the line and went and sat on the benches while we waited for them. Several minutes passed and of course, here comes an AK bus. We got up and walked over to the door. Just in the nick of time, here come Sam and Joe running across the parking lot. We made the bus! I breathed a sigh of relief!

The bus took off right after we were seated but first had to stop at Blizzard Beach. Then, just a few minutes later we were pulling into AK! YAY! We were finally at our first park! I couldn’t wait to get in and soak up the Disney magic!!

Walking in the park I had to stop everyone to take a picture

And we were off! Time to have some wild fun!

Oh man, I hate that waiting feeling when people don't run on the same timeline that you do! You just try to tell yourself "it's okay, it's okay, breathe." So difficult to do.

I always make sure I get pictures of the room before the tornado of mess attacks it.

Yay, so glad your rooms were ready! It's too bad you didn't get the 50's section, but the 80's section looks awesome! :thumbsup2

OMG I can't believe your friends forgot their tickets! :scared1: At least they knew where they were and didn't have to search for them!

Can't wait to read about AK! And Happy Valentine's Day! :woohoo:

Hope you and Chris have a great valentine's day dinner :) I have never seen man versus food but I have heard of it and know enough about it to know that it is a good sign if a place is on there!

yay pop! I seriously LOVE that resort! My family has been staying there for the past 5 trips and we wouldn't change that for the world! Everything about it is super flashy and cute which is exactly what I love about it!

yay for a quick and easy check in as well :) Sorry you guys didn't get the section you wanted :(. I have never stayed in the 50's section so I don't know how it really compares to the 80's section but I have spent most of my trips in the 80's section and love it! For the past 2 trips our building has been super close to the main building, which was awesome for our many mug refill stops throughout the trip! My family doesn't really take advantage of the bus system but from our room this past trip you could see the bus stops and if we had taken the buses it would have been a super quick walk over there.

I think you were in the same building we were in this past trip except we were on the fourth floor and were right around the corner from the staircase that is in your picture.

yay an update! I love arriving at the resort at the beginning of the trip, isnt it just the best feeling ever? its because the whole trip is still ahead of you lol I've been thinking of trying the fridge swap, how exactly does it work? Can't wait to see what you did at AK!
