Larger cheaper contracts vs Desired resort contracts

The OP's objective was 1 bedrooms, not studios...

I asked and they haven't responded yet. They seem to be comparing buying Studios at a "better" resort or a 1BR at a "cheaper" resort.

I think RoseGold was correct in calling out that the OPs comment was spot on that if they do want to do the SAP "cheaper" option they will have to upgrade to 1BR.

In the end 1BR is going to be more expensive than a Studio over the lifetime of the contract. Not saying its not work the extra cost just that it will cost more if you don't care about the 1BR vs Studio difference.

We prefer a 1 bedroom when it is just the 2 of us, so I understand that logic. I still am not comfortable to not buy where I want to stay.

We did pull off a 1 bed at VGC for 4 nights. Loved it, but we may never get back out there again so it was worth the cost and stress to book at 7 months. For my yearly trips to Disney during fall frenzy? I want to be at the BW and walk to our two favorite parks.

I'm not sure where, but there is a thread that lists the availability at 7 months for different room categories at every resort. Maybe someone can link it for you?

That would tell you pretty quickly if your desired resort reliably has 1 bedrooms available at 7 months.

Disclaimer: Couple years old now and everything probably goes out the window for the next couple years due to Covid causing a large number of points to pool.

Yes this was the idea I was batting around. Seems like it makes more sense to buy where you want to stay the majority of the time and maybe buy a smaller contract.

I’d only consider SSR if the goal was WDW that way you always have the fallback option rather than VB or HHI.

Larger point contracts were my target to get a better deal from the seller! And picked resorts with longer years until expire 🤙🏼

I think it really depends, for us, the larger contracts would work because we aren't really picky about where we stay, Saratoga is our last choice, but we would stay there if that was all that is available. But we also have over 200 points at VGC, which means at 11 months out we can essentially trade those points with someone else that has availability if we really want to stay somewhere. What we have done in the past is we book a reservation at 11 months out for them and they book one for us, it works well because if they cancel the reservation we can simply do the same, so while there has to be some trust there, it is less than even with a cash transaction.

But it is rare we want to stay somewhere badly enough to do that, we just go with what is available when we can book it.
