Our friends have asked me to do some research on laptops for them not knowing anything about them can someone give me some advise. What is the difference between intel centrino and pentium 4 which one is the best? Answers in plain english please!!!

In general:

- Centrino based laptops have better battery life

- Centrino laptops tend to be smaller and lighter

- Centrino based laptops are quieter

If you are comparing two models (one Centrino and one P4) where both of them are the same speed (a number expressed in GHz), then the Centrino will be faster. A 2GHz Centrino laptop is roughly the same speed as a 3.2GHz Pentium 4.

For the reasons mentioned above there are a lot more Centrino based laptops out there.

Oh, and it's worth noting that the Centrino is sometimes referred to as Pentium M, so don't get confused if that name pops up somewhere too! There is a slight difference, but I won't bore you with that unless you want me to!
