I was wondering about the security locks with alarms, does anyone know how touchy they are?

If I decide to leave my laptop at the office, I'd like to have a secuity lock on them. I noticed some at Dell have alarms. I didn't know how touchy they would be. We have a cleaning crew come in and they move my computer a little to dust, will it go off or is it only if someone tries to actually remove it?

Are they worth it?

The alarm would go off if someone moves the computer. It's got a motion sensor in it. If I might ask, why not just get a standard K-Lock (kensington lock) without the alarm. They are by no way foolproof, but the person would either have to significantly damage the PC or carry around a pair of aircraft cable cutters.

Do you have a lockable desk drawer you could keep it in?

Thanks. I didn't realize they had a regular lock and I just found one on the dell website. It's also a retractable one. I'll have to look into that one.

As of now, I don't have a lockable desk drawer. We might be getting some new ones in but they might be going to others with more seniority.

Also, incase I decided to take my laptop to disney, I didn't know what to do with it. Just hide it or lock it or both.

A kensington lock slot is a standard sized opening. The lock itself will come with small washers or round shims which you'll need to insert on the end of the lock shaft until it is lightly snug against the side of the laptop, monitor or projector you're locking. It's simple and only takes a moment to set up the first time. I'm certain you can find all sorts of locks which fit these slots everywhere from CompUSA to probably even Walmart. I guess this is one way of saying you don't have to shop at dell to get the identical item. Personally, I shop newegg.com for most of my pc parts and have been exceptionally happy...

Thanks. I'll check out that website. I normally shop at Dell since they have some pretty good rates and I also get an employee & affiliates discounts on some items.

I just purchased a 1GB Sandisk Ultra II SD card for $43. I checked other websites and that's the cheapest I have seen for the exact same card.
