Laptop battery replacement?

Our laptop battery needs to be replaced. I have looked a new Dell battery which is around $135. The off brand ones vary all across the board from around $30 to about the same as the Dell.

I was wondering if there is an off-brand battery anyone has had a good experience with? I don't necessarily want the cheapest one, but the actual Dell one wasn't that great either so I hoping to try something else.

Not sure how long you've had your laptop, but I have an HP and my battery was dying after 2-1/2 years. I looked at those inexpensive batteries on Ebay, but saw most of them were being shipped from China and wasn't sure I wanted to wait that long for one to arrive, nor was I sure if I had issues with it if PayPal would cover a foreign transaction.

I did end up buying a new battery -- one that lasts twice as long as my original HP battery directly from HP. I looked for a code on line and was able to buy one at 25 percent off as well as get free shipping. It did cost me a little over $100, but I feel better about my purchase.

Probably not the answer you were looking for, but did want to sure my experience with buying directly from the manufacturer.

We had bought a cheap battery for the laptop on Amazon. It lasted only a couple of months. The next one we got is a Kensington battery and so far so good. It was about $65. Wish I had never bought that other one.

On my iBook, I bought a cheap ebay battery for under $30 as a replacement. It worked well for about 6 months...after that it went downhill fast.

After it started dying, I just got a new MacBook.

Ihave same problem my sons computer needs new one it was $150 when i called Dell but havent ordered it battery only lasted18 mths .it seems a lot alreday relplaced plug in adapter that was$50 hes had it 2yrs was $850 computer hate to pay a ton for old computer.

I just got my new battery yesterday. I got it on Amazon for around $31.00 plus free super saver shipping. I charged it yesterday and used it last night. It seemed to work fine. I used it for around 2 hours and it wasn't down to 50% yet. I have an HP DV5

We bought ours right around the end date of our model, I would have to check. Ours would only have the video chip replaced and not the whole computer. Too bad, that would work too.

Batteries Plus is having a laptop battery sale (online, only -- not in their bricks-and-mortar stores).

I ordered one, Sunday - we'll see how it goes...

When I had to buy a new battery for my Dell, I purchased one from BatteriesDirect online. It was cheaper than buying from Dell and this battery is much better than the original one.
