I have noticed during my planning that some people buy Disney Lanyards. Do you think they are a good idea? Also, I have read that you hook your fastpasses, tickets, etc to it. Do they usually come with some sort of holder with them? Or does Disney give you your tickets, etc in a holder?

Thanks

We just got back from Disney and used a 94 cent badge holder on a string from walmart (located near men's wallets at ours). It was great-easily held six keys to the world and fastpasses. Didn't have to dig around in the wallet for them for meals or fastpasses...I feel naked without it.

I've seen people doing this at WDW and always thought it was strange. I wouldn't want someting hanging around my neck all day. But to each their own.

I love the idea of a lanyard and also enjoy my favorite pins but I have yet to find a lanyard that is comfortable enough to wear for any length of time. I've purchased several different types and they always cut into or rub my neck. I've given up on that idea and purchased the pin trading "portfolio" and just put my passes in a small purse I wear across my shoulder.

I got off easy, my husband had to shoulder ride the sturdily built 4 and 8 year old through a fair bit of the parks.;)

last trip we bought some really thin lanyards with the little clear pocket hanging on the hook. We got them off ebay for about .75 each. Very lightweight and did not bother us at all. The lanyards worked great for our tickets and fastpass, better than digging in the bag everytime we wanted them. We will use them again in 2 weeks...

We used these too, just make sure you get the kind with the "zipper" on the top not the side, if your pouch hange vertically, the stuff can fall out when you open it. These are so lightweight it was a great tip I learned here.

I agree - I wouldn't like wearing something around my neck all day. I don't even like to wear necklaces.

We all wore lanyards, never really bothered us too much. The backpack was way heavier!

OP - Are you male or female? If you can carry a bag/purse. You should be able to wear a lanyard.

Having said that... My 3 boys have lanyards with pins for trading. They must get heavy/cumbersome because sometimes they take them off for me to carry in my (travel) bag (Overland Equipment - Placer).

I place all of our KTTW cards in my bag. There is a zipper mesh pocket under the flap. Provides easy access and I feel secure that I am not going to lose them.

we also have worn lanyards.... my kids use theirs for pins, but NOT their KTTW... I don't trust them to not be lost.. those stay in my fanny pack, in the little zipper closest to me, all by themselves... they're easy to find, and all together when we need to get FP's. I found sometimes the plastic "holders" get a little sticky or something when trying to get the KTTW out of them, (or I ended up ripping my cuticles to shreds pulling them out), so they're in my fanny pack from now on!

I only trust *myself* to keep up with the KTTW for our group for 10 days straight! Not even DH want's that task! LOL!

I wear a lanyard at work (I'm a teacher) and I usually always have at least a pin or two on it with my ID hanging in a clear zippered holder at the bottom. When it comes time for our trips, I usually pick a couple of my lanyards to bring with me along with some favorite pins ( I never trade, I can never part with any). I find as long as you don't have too many pins on the lanyard, it doesn't bother your neck as much. I like keeping my ID and fps in the holder so I'm not digging for them. My DH and DS do the same.:cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

We all got the Disney lanyards and badge holders last year and had no problem wearing them. Will do it again in Sept.:cool1:

I too wear a lanyard at work. It is thin with a breakaway back. But to be honest, when I am having a crappy day that lanyard feels like I am wearing hot wire instead. They don't feel so bad if you can keep them on the outside of your shirt collar.

I bought a lanyard a couple years ago with a small Mickey Mouse tri fold wallet conected to it. I love it. When we go during warmer months this is all I bring along. I guess if its really hot out it can start to bother you. But they do have some newer lanyards made of really soft lightweight material. I'm thinking of getting the new fabric and attaching the wallet to the bottom of that.
