Lanyards When Boarding The Ship

Love the Dis, all you have to do is ask and someone will hook you up. ;)
The picture is great Jessica!

They do sell lanyards at the terminal before you board the ship? Or do you have to get on the ship before you can buy them?

You can buy them in the terminal before boarding.

For those of you that want to go a cheaper route and don't care that it's not Disney. Hobby Lobby has these rainbow stripped lanyards for .99 each. You can then get a pack of the plastic pouches for about $2.00 at Office Max.

Also, sometimes Target sells Disney themed lanyards (such as Pirates of the Caribbean) in their dollar section. pirate: :thumbsup2

I really think that for the price of the vacation, DCL should throw in the lanyards for everyone! Just my opinion, even Carnival threw in a plastic card holder to where around our necks. For our family of 7, we will spend $56 for lanyards! Just crazy!

Does everyone who has sailed before get a CC lanyard, and do they have to have their CC number?

Thanks!

The first time we sailed on DCL (in 2004)they DID include the lanyards free. We all got the blue one with the red DCL logo on it. I'm not sure why they don't include those anymore, or if they only did it for a short time.

I sailed in 2003 for the first time and never got a lanyard. But on the second cruise you do get CC lanyards.

I agree that $56.00 for lanyards is crazy. That's why we didn't buy the 8.00 ones when the $2.00 ones at Walmart work just as well and are not in anyway unsightly. It's not like it's a rule that you have to buy the ones on the ship.

Yes, after your first cruise you will get a lanyard. No, you don't need to give anyone your CC number. The person checking you in has that information. If for some reason you're not given a lanyard, just ask.

Interesting. I've never had a cruise line give out anything.

Just wanted to say that we bought the red and blue DCL lanyards in the gift shop at the terminal and we regretted it! The one's you can get on the ship once it starts sailing are SOOO much better, the red and blue ones itched and rubbed our necks! Just my opinion

On our October 2007 cruise, our in-laws were instructed by the CM to join us in the CC check-in line, even after we told the CM that this was their first cruise and they all ended up getting those lanyards too!

And I agree with the above poster, the ones you buy in the terminal aren't very good. Itchy and perhaps a little too short.

I would have to agree with you...Disney isn't known for giving stuff out for free (and that's not why they cost more than other curise lines) what they are known, and loved for is the level of service they offer and the quality of their product. It takes a lot of money to maintain both of those things, and that is what we (at least my family) are paying for.

It's not just Disney. I have several sailings with several different cruise lines. Including Carnvial, and with the exception of the repeat cruiser gifts, I've never got anything from them.

I'm interested in finding out if the PP was part of a group, as some cruise lines do give gifts out for groups. But not to single rooms booked.

I have cruised a few times, and never used one......am I missing something...
doesn't get annoying around your neck ?

For our cruise last May, I found Tink, Cars and Princess lanyards at the $$ store. My kids loved them. MIL got DH a DCL one on the ship which I stole :) Next time we will be CC members!!

I used one that I had gotten from a AAA package to DL. It had the plastic pouch for my KTTW card and my Shutters package card. It was very convenient to have it around your neck, rather than stuffing cards in a pocket or carrying a bag around. I wear them all the time at the parks too, so I guess I'm used them.

I guess it just depends on what you're used to.

We always keep our key cards in the lanyard pouches and the lanyards are always hung on a hook right by the door. Makes it very easy to grab yours and go, rather than trying to find where you tossed your key card the last time you came in.

My DH and DS wear their lanyards all the time and find them to be very convenient. The girls don't wear theirs quite as much (fashion statement, or not, and all ;) ) but they do use them; especially when they're making a quick run to the drink station, or when they're in beachwear (most swim suits, cover-ups, etc don't have places to keep your key card dry and secure)

I don't bring a purse when I cruise, so I need somewhere to keep my key card. I have a beach bag for port days, and I have a collection of wristlets that I use for dinners and such, but I do use my lanyard quite a bit when I'm out and around the ship on sea days.
