Language homework help needed please

I'm hoping someone here can help us out. My 7th grade dd is trying to do her homework and she can't figure this one out. My dh and I have both tried and we are of no help.

They have two columns of words. One column is a root word and the second column is a meaning. These are supposed to have something to do with the medical field. I'll give you an example first. Root - cardio Meaning - heart. The answer is cardiologist.

Now the one we're stuck on is Root - Man Meaning - Hand
This may be something real simple, but we just don't get it. Can anyone please help.

I would say manipulate. It is definitely a medical term. Osteopaths, chiropractors, physiotherapists, etc. etc. all use that term.

Thanks for all the replies. I think she will go with manipulate. I honestly don't know where they come up with some of the homework they assign. One thing I do know though, you can always count on the Dis'ers to help out.
