Land Of The Lost - The DVC Members with Resort Reservations and No Tickets Crying Room....

Reading through the thread. My head hurts. It's the most confusing mess ever! I'm trying really hard to keep it all straight in my head, but no...o_O
I know, right!?
Here's the thing...Disney's system 'knows', if you have an existing reservation...so in theory...they should be able to sell park tickets to those of us with existing reservations...not that hard of a DB check to do. As DVC members, we pay a TON of money for the extra magic and right now...I'm seeing a poor ROI for this roll out. I'm in a hard spot...this is the ONLY time I can get away from work...my banked points are not going to hold over, and I can't go any sooner...so I will loose all my banked points. AND NOW, since we are relegated to the bottom of the pile for ticket sales...I'm asking myself...why do I pay all this money if only AP/existing ticket holders get first access?!

I’m the one who found these in my local Target in NC and, as others have mentioned, they were a no go. We were politely insistent (aka desperate) but even the very helpful store manager could not get the purchase to go through. I guess it’s ~possible~ you might have different luck at Kroger but it seems iffy at best...I wish you luck if you decide to give it a try!
I have an active AP so I am okay. Just thought these could be a work around for some one needing a ticket. Apparently it doesn’t work

Universal Studios seemed to have figured most of this out without any issues, opened first and are enjoying themselves down the street. I will give them the benfit of being smaller but the things that are impacting all of us could have been avoided. Harry Potter has his arms open and would accept us all as day guests! Someone over there should capitalize on it and start setting up the shuttle busses as we speak. Might change the Disney brass’ outlook when they see them running on property.

Just got off with ticketing. Can’t buy a package with season passes vs day tickets. So that’s out.
Bummer, thanks for checking though...I could not get through...'All circuits are busy'...I tried for about an hour and only got that message.

Like some of you have said, a solution may be to book a cash night before your DVC trip starts and add tickets to this package. Then you can book your park passes. You could show up/fly in a night early and get a jump start on your vacay. Or, if you later decide it won’t work out, buy tickets when they are for sale again, add them to MDE, the cancel your cash room/ticket package.

Even before all this we would often do this. We tend to like to fly in after work on a Friday, and don’t want to use points on an arrival at 10pm. So we would book a pop room with tickets as a package for the night we flew in, only having to put down $200 for the package, and it would allow us to have tickets, a cheap room to sleep in the night we flew in, and we’d wake up already at Disney! It was perfect. (And it was also nice knowing that IF something happened and we had to cancel, we could cancel the package 45 days out and not be on the hook for the tickets).

Have a room booked, planning to go for my 40th birthday next year. :( There will be nothing magical about that trip if we can't even get into parks. We hadn't decided if the kids are going yet either, That's an extra $2,400 to grab their AP's now, not knowing if theirs are for February or May.

Isn’t anyone worried about buying tickets and then the parks close because of the next flu season? I went through **** because our last trip started on 3/15. I’ve looked at graphs and December could very well be in the middle of an even worse pandemic 😐

Actually Mears used to run a shuttle service from Disney hotels to Universal. We've used it in the past, but I don't know if that's still the case. Of course, there is always Uber and Lyft! :flower1:

Thanks for the answer. I had been on hold for over 4 hours but had to hang up due to an already scheduled virtual appointment. 😡

Hi :wave2: I'm from the Milwaukee area, too :)

So yes, of course. But I've rented points (private), so that money's spent... (at 11 months, so committed in February before all of this started.) Tickets will continue to be good as long as we don't use them, so if we don't go I'll just hold on to them. Airfare is when I'll feel like I'll knowingly be taking a risk.

Hi everyone. I got though to a very nice CM. 407-939-5277. (I was on hold from 6:45am to 9:15am - staying at DVC on rented points in Jan 2021 with no tickets.) She really tried to help me. Even put me on hold to check with the DVC line herself so I wouldn't have to. The outcome is that I can't get 2021 park tickets at this time. They are only able to do so by rebooking as a package today. We will be able to (should be able to) get tickets online on the 28th and reserve parks at that time. I'm hoping that process is smoother than it was for those trying for the last couple of days... I keep telling myself that even if I can't get tickets, hopefully I'll still be at BWV in January and not in Wisconsin. :)
Thank you for posting this! Same situation.

Yes very worried!! I have a January 2021 reservation made by renting DVC points and no tickets, and I'm not going to buy them even once I'm able on 6/28 (or whenever). I would rather risk not being able to get park reservations for our chosen dates and trying to re-book our resort, than spending another $5k for a vacation that may not happen. I'm going to try very hard to hang in there until October or so and see what the landscape is like, instead of fear-buying park tickets before then. Despite the worry though, overall I do remain optimistic that we'll be able to go in January as planned. :)

Exactly the same boat we are in. Privately rented DVC early Feb for Jan 2021.

Hope to buy our airfare the week or so after Thanksgiving if the outlook is good. Holiday season should be a good indicator on where we stand with cases and treatment. Generally we've noticed off season airfare has best prices sometime between 3 months to 3 weeks before trip, so hopefully booking 25-30 days out will have decent prices.

Just attempted this online. With a one night stay, will only let you purchase a 2 day ticket.

For guests with resort reservations made with DVC points for 2021, today is the first time I felt DVC points reservations have been put at a disadvantage compared to cash reservations.

Prior to today, while DVC did not get any type of preferential treatment, they at least had the same opportunities as cash guests related to tickets and park reservations. However, today, guests with cash resort reservations, but no tickets can purchase tickets AND make park reservations, while guests with DVC points reservation, but no tickets can not.

There is a thread titled "How is this okay" discussing this (link below using the up arrow), but it morphed into a discussion about how to get around the current policy.
Why are we getting penalized for being DVC members? I’m not asking for special treatment, but I think we should get the same treatment as a regular resort guest.

ETA: @MilwaukeeMom and @digiMom I am from Mequon. If you hover over my sorcerer Mickey avatar that information shows up. It also shows for digiMom, but not for MilwaukeeMom. Wonder when the DIS boards stopped showing that information for people who joined later?

Further ETA: There is a Wisconsin members page, but it only has 70 posts, the last one being from 2013
Just thought I'd start a page for all us WI DVC Members. I'll even try to keep it updated.

My hope is Disney has "reserved or blocked off" a certain percentage of park reservations for rooms booked with DVC points but no tickets, since guests in that situation will have at least a 4 day disadvantage in purchasing tickets and being able to make park reservations.
