It is really nice with a lot of activities. If we go for a weekend, we don't even leave the campground! It is about 5 miles north of Lake George Village, and when we do go into the village, we don't have any trouble finding parking.

There are also two state campgrounds with reasonable rates, but book early!

I havent been there in many years, but the Great Escape, which is now owned by 6 Flags is always fun!

Does anyone have info on the trolley system?
Does it operate late at night?

We've been going to Lake George every July for the last 12 years.
My 15 DD could be a tour guide for the town!
We do the following:
Great Escape- can be two days because they have a water park
Horseback riding
go karts
There is also a seperate Water Park on Rte 9
alot of mini golf
1 hour boat ride or longer ones which include lunch
There are fireworks every week in town
Shopping outlet
jet- skiing
para-sailing



Furthur up Rte 9 is Bolton Landing which is a cute town, not as busy as the strip in Lake George. If your kids are under 9 there is The Magic Forest,
that has rides for younger kids. They also have "The Diving Horse". He walks up a plank and falls into a big pool. For some reason my DH thinks it's hystrical!

At the suggestion of a DIS'er. I think we may have outgrown tent camping.

Anyway, I also forgot to mention that on the main strip in Lake George there is a public beach and a park. The beach has a lifeguard, and a cool dock the kids like to jump off. There is also a new "boardwalk" type area near the lake which is fun.

If you are there for longer than a weekend, take a drive up Rt. 9 to Ft. Ticonderoga.

I guess I should give more info!

It will be me and by SO, no kids! We'll be staying in a motorhome, no vehicle. For 8 days.

I'd like to try parasailing that sounds fun.

But we will need trolley for transportation.

At the end of August, the track will still be running in Saratoga. It's a 20 minute trip on the northway and even if you don't like to gamble, it's a great place to people/horse watch.

There's a nice bar/restaurant on a little lake called Glen Lake...The Docksider. The food is good (not spectacular), and the service a little slow. But...if you aren't in a hurry it has a fantastic view. They have a great covered deck. The perfect place to sip a drink and have something to eat. I grew up there. My grandparents used to own it (quite a while ago) when it was called Sullivan's Pavillion. My grandmother still lives about 8 houses down on the lake. If you take a right out of the campground, take another right on Oxen Hill Rd, and a right onto Glen Lake Road, it will be about a mile down on your left.

My mother just went to another new restaurant nearby. I think it's called the Cherry Tomato. It's on 149 (just take a right out of the campground). She said it was really good.

Suttons has a nice breakfast and a really nice gift shop & bakery. Take a left out of the campground and another left onto rte 9. Go past Great Escape, it will be a little further on the left.

Almost across the street from Suttons is Skateland. They have go-carts and rollerskating.

A little further south on Rte 9 (same side as skateland) is a drive-in movie theatre.

Of course, there's always the village of Lake George. There's a couple of beaches (one's free, one you pay), arcades, souvenir shops, bars, and people watching.

The campground you picked also has a lot of activities. You probably wouldn't even need to leave and you would find plenty to do.

Oh, and Prospect mountain is a nice place to drive up and have a picnic...beautiful views. There's also a lot of great hiking in the area.

Your RV park will be fairly near the "outlets," but I think the trolleys might sometimes go actually into the RV park. Maybe your contact at the park can help you out with how near a trolley stop is.

Tw1nsmom, I've had many nice afternoons and evenings at the Docksider. Kudos to your grandparents for running such a nice place. My parents used to go there too, in the Sullivans Pavilion days.
