Laissez les bon temps Rouler...Feb 2010 2/20 MK Last part of the Night updt 9/70 pg65

Today would be our 2nd and final day at Animal Kingdom. I know a lot of people think of AK as a 1/2 park day, but not for us. We really need 2 full days to do everything we like to do. This is Dennis' favorite park. On our first day I had to drag him out after 3, even though he knew we would be coming back.

Our plan was to hit rope drop since we missed it on Tuesday. Breakfast would be at POFQ food court and try to be on a bus by 8. We wanted to hit the big rides but also do some of the shows and animal treks we missed on our first day. This would be Jada and Lauren's last day in any park. Dinner would be at 'Ohana's. We had a 7:05 ADR. I was really hoping to catch Wished near the end of our dinner. In 2004 we lucked out and did this. It was the perfect ending to our trip. The lights were dimmed, the music was piped in and everyone enjoyed the show. Danielle was 4 at the time. She danced around during the show right by our table, in the area where the kids limbo. When the fireworks ended and everyone clapped she thought they were clapping for our and bowed for everyone.

I'm going to try and do my best to piece this day together in the correct order. I have pictures from 3 different cameras and I had ditched the trip journal the day before.

I don't remember when but at some point Jada told me she was going to sleep in a little and meet us later. I think I called her when we were on the bus to the park.

Our day started in the usual way. I was the first one up, then I threatened Danielle that she better hurry up and get in the bathroom before Dennis got in there. You don't want to have the bathroom AFTER Dennis. Michelle slept in a little. We gathered our stuff for the day and headed down to the food court for breakfast. We grabbed a muffin and small chocolate milk for Michelle. She did her usual and meet us at the bus stop. She broke the rules and had her breakfast on the bus, then finished putting on her make up. Mascara is always applied on the bus. Today was also the day we planned to all dress in our LSU wear. Not that you can really tell what we're wearing from day to day since we just about always had jackets on.

We made the park in pretty good time. We weren't all the way to the front of the rope but not too far back. Right before 8:45 they started the opening show. This was very unusual for us, in the past the show was done by the Tree of Life. This was done right at the front.

At 8:45 they dropped the rope! Oh my I think this was the first time we entered AK early. I made a bee line for EE to pick up FPs for later. I of course ended up in the line that had the most trouble. The machine got stuck and a CM had to help me get the FPs.

FPs in hand where did we go next? Why Dennis' favorite AK ride.

We rode stand by. Since it was early we zoomed by in the line.

Once on the ride Dennis was a bad boy and broke the rules. Yes he took flash pictures. I'm only going to share one since the others really take away the magic of the ride.

I do not support what he did.

We had decided we would try to act scared for our picture and he actually came out pretty good. We ended up buying the picture and it now sits in our living room on the shelf of our favorite Disney pictures. I didn't take a red neck picture since we bought it. I may scan it in and post it later. We have a frame we bought several trips ago that is themed to Dinosaur. The old picture was put on a scrapbook page and in now in a book.

A few scenic shots.

We couldn't get another FPs yet so what to do?

We drug Danielle into "It's Tough to be a Bug". We really like it but she hates it.

A big pile of dung!

Up next a little Africa.

Since I have been known to take a few flash pictures myself :rolleyes1 I really enjoyed that one. That is one ride where I have never even attempted to take my camera out for fear that the carnivores would have it for lunch. Thanks for posting that. Pretty cool!

So that's what that big, scary dinosaur looks like! I have never seen him since my head is always buried!

Now you can say you have seen at least one of the scary dinosaurs.

Dennis was pretty proud of his bravery in getting that picture. The others he got show too much of what's behind the scary head. I certainly couldn't take any, I'm too busy trying to hold on!

Why am I the most fascinated by the great big pile of poop!?

:lmao::lmao::lmao:

I'm so glad someone else can appreciate it's greatness.:worship:

I found some AMAZINGLY great TR fodder over in Rafiki's that I can't wait to show anyone who appreciates the Jr. High humor of it all. :lmao:

After checking out the Giant Dung Ball and visiting with the bugs we headed to Africa for some Safari FPs. The strangest thing happened when I got there. The FPs machines were down, this meant 2 things. First I could FPs without worrying about when I could get another set and If I played it right I could get more that one set. Jada and Lauren weren't with us so I really needed to get them a set too. Also we were hoping to meet up with Danielle's friend Lauren and her grandparents. While I was getting the first set Dennis and the girls were shopping and using their imaginations.

I think Dennis is on Safari here

Funny hats.

Danielle playing along.

Once I explained about the tickets Dennis went back and got 4 more tickets. Then Michelle went back and got 4 more. I know we're being bad but we weren't doing it for us, it was for others in our party.

And of course my family can't pass the drums without playing.

We left Africa and started waking towards Asia. On our way we saw this lovely lady.

And picture of the Tree of Life from the backside.

We wanted to catch Flights of Wonder since we missed it on our first day. I think I ran ahead and picked up some more FPs for EE at this point.

I know some people have a fear of the birds but we sure don't. On our first two trips here we passed over this show. We finally say in 2004 and really enjoyed it. Since them we try to catch it every trip. Danielle and I missed it in 2009 due to my other sister Tena not liking shows.

I really enjoy the corny humor and the story that goes along with the show. One of the main character has a fear of birds too.

Some random pictures.

Watch out he's coming right over your head!

More to come.

A few more pictures from the show.

After Flights of Wonder we headed to EE to use our first set of FPs.

This is a family favorite but I was a little worried after the reaction I had after our last day here. I didn't want to spend my night feeling sick again.

Next update: Meeting back up with Jada and Lauren.

I read this and thought, "poor Dennis". :rotfl2:

Looks like the makings of a good AK day! I don't blame you on the Safari fastpasses....they're for your whole party -- go for it!

Awesome update....Great Ak pics!

I love the posed picture on Dinosaur....too funny!

Looking forward to more:goodvibes

I can think of a few people who will enjoy it.;)

Love the Dinosaur and hat pictures!!! :lmao:

I love it when the family is in a playful mood. Luckily that happens often in Disney.

I only speak the truth.:rolleyes1

I was hoping I wasn't the only one that would take advantage of the gift that was offered.

Glad you enjoyed it, we sure enjoyed our day. This was the first time we were able to do a posed picture. Normally Danielle's head is buried and her eyes are closed. She is finally not terrified.

I was really groovin' on the FoW show!! Seriously, I saw it not once but twice!!! Bwana Bob cracks me up! :lmao:

I always wondered what the back side of a tree looked like. Thanks! Ha, now I can say I've seen the backside of water AND a tree, and a rhino. :rotfl2:

I will have to show Brooklynn the Dinosaur picture so that she can see for sure that what we are telling her is true - they are just big action figures. The first time she rode it, she came straight into the gift shop where Bella and I were waiting, grabbed a dinosaur off the shelf, and told me, "This dinosaur tried to eat me!"

We love FoW! We get to laugh and learn something new.

I couldn't keep track of all the backsides we saw. I think I'm going to do a scapbook page of just backsides.:woohoo:

I love Brooklynn's reaction. I hope the picture helps for her next ride.

I have to say that the dinosaur looks quite friendly up close!:goodvibes

He doesn't look like any of my friends. Maybe he was just trying to give us a hug?:rolleyes1

I need to back track a little. I totally forgot what a easy time we had leaving Epcot because we DROVE and didn't ride the bus. It was so nice walking out to our car, avoiding the crowds and leaving. We did have a little trouble finding the car but not too bad. POFQ was soooo close to the park. With that in mind I was really hoping it would help change Dennis' mind the next morning we it came time to head to AK. No such luck he went right back to the bus. Oh well, I tried.

In my last update I think we had just finished our ride on Everest. Since we were so close to Nemo and a show was starting we headed there. At about that time Jada called to say they had arrived. She would try to meet us there. The theater was pretty crowded when we got there so we told her to hurry. We ended up in the upper section not too far from the middle. We waited and waited for Jada. Right before the show started we saw them enter but they were directed to the very front.

Now I have to say I thought the show was just okay the first time I saw it in 2007. I was also very hot and tired at the time and I might have dozed off. The second time I saw it I was again hot and tired and we were sitting real close, too close for me, but I did like it a little more. This time we were sitting in just the right spot, I wasn't hot or tired and I really loved it. The best part is the music. I love how you forget you're watching puppets.

After we exited we meet up with Jada and Lauren and headed back to Dinoland to grab some fps for Dinosaur since we now had Lauren's ticket. While I grabbed fps Dennis and the girls just had to play some games. I find it a total waste of money but they can't pass this area without blowing some money.

At least they won a little something.

Fps in had for later we headed to Kilimanjaro Safari to use some of those fps. We had called Danielle's friend Lauren and found out that they had already checked out and were headed back to Louisiana. Bummer.

Along the way.

I know you have seen lots of Safari pictures but here are a few more.
