Love it, totally wearable outside Disney.

It has to be legit cold for me not to wear a skirt or sleeveless dress to DL.

No shorts underneath. Any length from just above the knee to mid-calf if fine (too long or too short makes it hard to get in and out of some rides.) It can't be a super straight skirt either for the same reason, plus a looser skirt is cooler. But most importantly, I need pockets.

I'm loving this thread, as I made the transition from Mickey t-shirts and cropped pants to skirts and dresses at DLR over the last couple of years. I generally wear cotton blend knee-length dresses or skirts with t-shirts. And I second the comment about pockets. I'm really into Disney bounding, and will do a black and white striped or polka dot dress with red leggings; a combination of a blue/red/yellow t-shirt and skirt, etc. I go on any and every ride, and have done it all (including water rides) in dresses and skirts.

I've done both bike shorts and no bike shorts. It really just depends on how hot it is. I also frequently carry a pair of leggings for cooler mornings and nights. But something as basic as baby or Gold Bond powder can help with any thigh rub if you're not comfortable with bike shorts. And it sounds like lots of other comments have recommended Body Glide as well, which I think also works great. As others mentioned, just try products out ahead of time to make sure they'll work for you.

For footwear, I frequently wear saltwater sandals. I wear them all the time, so they're broken in and comfortable for me. I think that's the key—wear any pair of shoes you like, as long as they're comfortable for you. With that said, I'm a huge fan of a mid-day shoe or sock change to keep the feet happy. Any pair of shoes can be uncomfortable after that much walking. And while sandals are super cute with dresses and skirts, there are tons of cute sneaks that are comfortable, too, and even in Disney patters. Vans and even Target have canvas options, and New Balance does a line of Disney-inspired running shoes for RunDisney.

Have fun!

I am trying dresses at the park on our next trip in a few weeks. Lightweight jersey knit with Jockey skimmies underneath and a lightweight sweater cardigan. So excited. Got my wardrobe all planned out.

I bought it, and I am happy I did! It will remind me of my disney love every time I wear it

:)
Love the orange, it's such a cool dress and not Minnie Mouseish at all! I too will be wearing dresses to the park, mainly tee shirt dresses!

I'm going to be Disney-bounding on our next trip in a couple of weeks! I'm excited about it - I've only done it once before for half a day, and I wasn't feeling well when I did it so I didn't enjoy it as much as I might have. I've got four outfits planned: Belle (yellow dress, natch), Mary Poppins (full white skirt, white blouse, wide red belt), Minnie (red/white polka dot chiffon skirt - super floaty, with a black top), and Ariel (red hair extensions, lavender tank top, and the same floaty chiffon skirt, only green). If I can find the right royal blue cardigan, I'll put it over the yellow Belle dress and put red bows on the sleeves for Snow White.

Great ideas!! I have bought a few dresses for our July trip and I am glad to hear it won't be an issue for the rides.

I typically wear dresses, cotton, at/above the knee. And no, no shorts underneath ( or I'd have worn shorts instead, lol)
I'm careful getting on/off rides. But seriously, what people wear walking down the street and at beaches now, wow! .. I have no concern with a knee area length dress.
I Love dresses and wear them year round.
