Ladies post...seriously guys...

I've been on Yasmin birth control pills for 3 years (or there abouts) for menorrhagia (not birth control- a little snip snip for dh took care of that) NO problems has always worked great- now all of a sudden, today breakthrough bleeding (with mild cramping). What is up with that? I haven't forgot any pills, just started week 2 yesterday... Any experiences similar out there? Any ideas? I'll have to call and TRY to get into my ob/gyn (wish me LUCK!) Of course in the mean time, I'm worried as heck (I always imagine the worst!)

Mermaid, it's probably nothing to worry about at all. A call to the doctor is good in any case.

Something similar happened to me a few years ago. I wasn't taking the same kind of pill and hadn't been taking it as long but they had to take me off of it. I had some major bleeding and cramping and thought for sure it was going to be something really bad. It wasn't though, just more stupid female problems. Try not to worry and just call your ob/gyn first thing this morning. My guess is they'll probably put you on something else for now or maybe take you off of them all together for the time being. Please keep us posted.

That happened to me (although I am on Ortho Evra) when I started to diet.

It could be caused by a number of things like stress, weight loss, maybe you had a cold or something.

Another possibility is you may need to change to a different dosage,

Definitely call your OB/GYN.

After the birth of my DD almost 8 years ago, I had the same problems with BC pills. My doctor had me try so many different brands and nothing really worked. She said it was just the change in my hormones from getting older. This happened every month, but she did say that it can happen just occasionally from stress or changes in weight. She also said it doesn't hurt anything to keep taking the pills, but it is just inconvenient and bothersome. She suggested an IUD.
