Tis the season for bathing suit shopping. :furious: :sad2: I was thinking of ordering one of the mix and match set tankini type suits with the control skirt and halter top. Except....well...um... :guilty: The shelf type bra tops just are not going to cut it. I need the um..large cup :guilty: and as MUCH control and coverage as possible with the skirt bottoms.

I have never had a Lands End suit before so was hoping to get some opinions on them since it will end up being $112.00 for this bathing suit.

Thanks!

I'm the only one in the world who doesn't like them. I tried three of them, sent all three back. The tankini tops aren't quite long enough for me, are too wide through the torso, and make me look more matronly than I really am. I don't have the upper body issues that you do, so I can't answer to that.

It seems weird because all the models look so great in them.

I have had Land's End suits for about 8 years! I love them! :thumbsup2 I buy the sport suits with the shorts. The suits are very well made and last a long time. If it doesn't fit right, Land's End is good about returns, I order from there quite a bit.

I have bought some. Some I love, some I don't. I also have the big bust issues and I find that it's best to look for the underwire ones. What I like about Lands End is they categorize them in the catalog or on-line by underwire, coverage, etc so you can ignore the ones that aren't going to cut it. I also like trying them on in the privacy of my own bedroom! No fluorescent lights!
By the way, you look great in your siggy picture...you'd probably look great in anything! :)

Good luck!

Love the Lands End suits!

They have some Lands End clothes at Sears....maybe they have suits you could try on?

I have bought several suits form them and really like them. What you need to do is accurately take your measurements. Call them or go to the online chat and talk to a representative. They are extremely helpful. I am only 5'4" and ended up fitting better into a tall suit because of a long torso. And they can tell you what styles work best. And of course, their returns are very simple.

They used to have an online thing where you could put in what kind of top you needed (shelf-tops don't cut if you have big girls!), what kind of suit you wanted, if you had a long torso, if you needed wide or skinny...and then it would pop up the suits that matched your requests!

I usually get Speedo now, and a couple at the mall...but I used to order from Land's End and never had a problem!

YUP, ::yes:: they do!! I bought mine at the SEARS in our Mall last summer and it is awesome! Try there FIRST, try them on and see if you like them and IF they do not have that particular one at SEARS then order through LE! They also had LE swimsuit cover-ups and LE beach bags and LE sandals. A good selection! :thumbsup2

have you tried the long torso ones? those work for me.

to the op - i LOVE LE bathing suits. as a matter of fact the only bathing suits i have owned for the past 10 years are lands end. i have managed to find ones that fit and looked good throughout my weight loss too.

Yes, I have. I'm 5'7" and do have a long torso. I think their long torso isn't long enough. Either that or I just don't like where their bottom hem hits.

I like them but I believe they run 'small'. I have to order a size larger to ensure a good fit.

Land's End suits look too matronly for me.

Believe me, I have to have a one piece or tankini, but I still want to look NOT like a granny. I shop Vickie's. :teeth:

I LOVE Lands End suits. DH and I take a long beach vacation every year, and spend most of the time snorkeling. Lands End suits can stand up to the three weeks of constant use, and provide the support and coverage I prefer to feel comfortable. I don't think they look matronly, though I will admit that I do prefer a modest suit. I would be way too self conscious in a bikini, but I don't mind walking around the beach in a Lands End suit.

I have one of the miracle suits (tankini) from there. I bought it last year and I don't see it on the website anymore. Anyway, I love the top, very supportive with a soft cup bra. The bottoms were absolutely awful. They did not look good on me at all. So I ended up with a plain black bottom from Target. So altogether it was $120. A lot, but it's very cute and the top has perfect support.

I personally have a few Lands Ends suits and love them. Actually my favorite one that I've had for close to 10 years has just bit the dust. I am very sad to see it go. So now I'm in the process of finding a new one.

I do wish Lands End would have a few more bathing suits with underwires. Soft cups and shelf bra's just don't cut it for me. They are pricey but the suits last for years! As long as you take care of it, it won't let you down.

I love them too! I'm plus-sized, however, so I only order one-piece tank suits, but they never seem to run small and they fit very well. The quality is superb, which makes it worth the price for me.

:sunny:

I have one and like it except for the chest area. Instead of full soft cups, the padding is only on the key areas of the chest. When that area gets wet, it gets darker than the rest of the bathing suit and really draws attention to that area. Kind of looks like I have pasties on!

If you need a larger cup size, then you need an underwire. I wouldn't buy a swimsuit without one now. They just talked about swimsuits on the Today show this morning and they commented on how some suits give larger chested women a una**** (that probably got edited, but think unabrow!)! :lmao: I did that look for years, with an underwire suit, no more una****! :thumbsup2

I have a Lands End suit similar to the one that you are looking at that I bought a couple of years ago. It's the best swimming suit that I can remember having. It's comfortable, very supportive (but I'm not in need of the larger cup size), and has held up well. It also stays put when you are in the water and doesn't pucker up or fly up like some skirted or short style suits do. I purchased mine at a Sears store.
