Ladies: Do you earn more than your hubby?

Not yet, but when I graduate jobs in my field pay 2x's what DH makes now. He loves the idea that I'll be earning more, we made the same when we married but since I've gone back to school the majority of the stress has been on him with regards to paying the bills. He can't wait to be a 'bum' (his words) and go back to school for his degree and spend more time with DD. He works hard, and it's only fair that I bear the burden for awhile.

The funny thing is, while DH is perfectly ok with the idea that I'll make more, his co-workers and his family aren't. He frequently get comments about how he 'allows' me to go to school and how unnatural it is. My MIL drops comments all the time about how nice it is he's supported me and my notion of going back to school. All of her boys married women with degrees while none of her children have that piece of paper, and it irks her something fierce.

I have always made a little bit more but in the last few years it has increased a lot. We are both schooll teachers. Where we both have Master's degrees I also have 45 credits more than that. It starts to add up. We are getting ready to retire in the next 5 years. He is happy that I make more because it means more for retirement.

No problem here and we have been married almost 32 years.

I have always made about 2x what DH makes. Even though he works A LOT harder than I do - his company is a lot slower to show their appreciation. A few months ago he went to the owner of the company and told him he thought that people deserved raises across the board - it had been about 4 years.

A few months later...big meeting. Everyone was given substantial raises. DH's was 24%. So, while he still makes less than me...he is getting closer!

But, anyway, he calls me his sugar momma ...both of us are completely fine with our finances!
