Hi ladies! I got a cute little purple tankini and a white comfy cover up dress (one of those little tube top towel material cover ups) to wear for our day at the waterpark and also by the pool. Do you think this is good? I have never done a water park yet! What do you wear?

Sounds fine to me. I think you'll find that most people just leave off the cover ups because you can't really take them on the rides. I always leave stuff in a locker and just run around in my suit. Everyone will have on a swimsuit and there are all kinds of body shapes, so no worries about how you look!

If you plan on doing any of the more thrilling slides, etc., you might find a one piece a little better than a tankini just because a one piece will stay on better. Bikini wearers run a risk of losing their tops sometimes.

Yes, I would wear a dress/cover up, especially to wait in line to buy food. :hippie:
I will have flip flops as well to protect tootsies from hot, hot concrete! :rotfl:

Your suit & dress sound super cute! :cutie:

Happy planning & have a great vacation!

We were just there last week and I wore a tankini that has swim shorts on the bottom. That worked great! I also had my cover-up but only wore it when we had lunch. The water park was one of our best days of the trip!!

I have never worn a cover up except when coming or leavig the water park. I have seen both people wearing and not wearing them. You will see people wearing t shirts on rides to speedos. Wear whatever you feel most comfortable in. I do put on flip flops when walking around if i know i am not going to be going in the water, especially to the ladies room.

I wore a one-piece suit with matching shorts to Water Country in Williamsburg last summer, and I had a big T-shirt over it because I'm very fair. I had to remove the shirt for one slide, but was able to wear it on the raft rides. I also wore a pair of dollar-store crocs which I was able to keep on for all the rides, and I can tell you that the rest of my family had fried feet, but I did not!
I would not recommend a tankini at all because you come hurtling down into a fairly shallow pool, which whooshes right up under your top. You may be giving some very young children some very sophisticated views, if you know what I mean..... :rotfl:

Whenever we go to a water park, (any water park) I always wear a cover up. Just so u can wear something will in the car or bus, in line for food, and walking through the lobby to get back to your room. It's just more comfortable.

Hope I helped! :)

Sounds cute to me. I am a swim coach and so I have a zillion one piece suits at any given time. I just don't even waste my time on cute suits anymore...:sad2: I really should, though. Your tankini should work fine on the slides.

I have even seen bakinis at the parks, but I am definitely not brave enough to go down a waterslide in a bakini! :rolleyes1 Maybe a few years ago I would have.

You should have a great time. Sounds like to me your outfit will work. You will definitely want to add sandals, flip flops, or Crocs!!

Well, that would be fine. May you have a great trip to come.

Have a nice day everyone. :)

I've yet to go...going in June. I'm planning on wearing my swimsuit (I only have two piece ones), a tanktop over that with some running shorts (ranger panties). I'm hoping that will be good enough. If it was left up to my DH, I would be walking around in just the two piece. I'm not comfortable like that though.

I wear a surf-shirt/rashguard type t-shirt over my bathing suit along with swim shoes. The swimshoes you have to take off on those bullet slides, but can use them many other places.

Be very careful with wearing coverups on the slides. They slow you down.

when i was a teen we went to Typhoon lagoon and I wore a t-shirt down a slide. My dad ended up going down the slid after me BUT passed me inside the slide and came out at the bottom first. It's definitely a safety issue!

So what do you do with your shoes for the rides?

I don't know whether to get little scuba shoes or just take flip flops...

Do you guys leave your flip flops in lockers?

;) It is not necessary to wear a cover up to stand in line to get food. Almost everyone in line is in a swim suit. Same with shoes, everyone is barefoot, I would just leave them at the chair. My only concern is that you should be careful on the extreme slides in a two piece, tops have been known to come off on them!

I have water shoes, and I wear them most of the time in the waterparks. I don't want to take a chance on fried feet because I wear Crocs the rest of the time and don't want the little nubbins to hurt burnt soles. Also, I grew up with a concrete pool and can still remember how bad it hurt to have the bottoms of my toes worn off by the roughness so I take no chances. Gotta have the feet in tip-top shape at WDW!!
