La Nouba compared to other Cirque shows

I am trying to decide whether to buy tickets for my parents for a traveling Cirque du Soleil show (Dralion) or for La Nouba. Does anyone know how the shows compare?

My husband and I have been to both O and Mystere and loved both shows (O was our favorite, though).

Thank you!

We have seen most of the cirque shows in LV, La Nouba, and a couple traveling shows. La Nouba and Mystere are by far my two favorites. I highly recommend it.

I agree with the PP - I have seen every Cirque show in Las Vegas plus the traveling shows that come to the Bay Area. La Nouba is my 2nd favorite behind Mystere - and I think that is mostly a sentimental favorite since it was the first one I saw over 20 years ago.

I have not seen Dralion, but I highly recommend La Nouba!

I'm debating between La Nouba when we go in December, or the traveling Varekai that will be in town as soon as we get home... anybody seen both of those?

We were going to see Varekai last spring, but DH got sick. So to make up for it, I got tickets to La Nouba, then found out Varekai was coming back in December! Now I'm torn. I didn't really want to give up the time while we are at WDW, but I'd have to figure out how to get rid of the tickets I already bought. Not sure it's worth the hassle.

Is there a difference in quality between the shows that have custom-made stages (like O and La Nouba) and the traveling shows? I guess I assume that the traveling ones aren't as high quality (sets and seating areas not as elaborate and lush, etc), but I could be wrong. (For instance, the seats at O and Mystere were much more comfortable than your average stadium/concert venue plastic seats, and I thought the overall look of the theatres added to the atmosphere.)

I also saw that a few months ago, there was a Living Social deal for La Nouba. Are deals offered often? A cursory look showed similar prices between Dralion and La Nouba (without any discounts).

I saw La Nouba and O very close together and thought they seemed quite similar in terms of tone and style, and sure enough they were directed by the same director (Franco Dragone) in the same year. They're not so similar that you'd fail to enjoy one if you'd seen the other, but you'll definitely notice some stylistic touches in common.

They're both very good and well worth seeing. Also I very much enjoyed Le Reve at the Wynn in Las Vegas, also directed by Dragone in much the same style as O, but not affiliated with Cirque Du Soleil.

We LOVED O. But the tickets would be for my parents, who have only seen Cirque on TV, never any live shows. Maybe since we loved O so much, we'll have to tag along!

Yes, there is a difference in the quality of the stages of the traveling show vs. the shows in LV; but it wouldn't stop me from seeing a traveling show! The traveling shows have to work with what they have stage-wise vs something that is custom. I think any Cirque show in any venue would be amazing- I've even watched one on Netflix and I was amazed at how GOOD it still was even though I was at home on the couch!

Here's my ranking of what I have seen. I can't remember if I've seen Dralion. It's possible. They are starting to blend together in my mind, especially because I have also seen everything from Varekai and before on DVD as well.

1) O (at the Bellagio) - Very intimate theater. Very absorbing. The water adds something special.
2) Alegria (tent)
3) Varekai (tent)
4) La Nouba (WDW)
5) Mystere (TI)
6) Ka (MGM Vegas) - Hated it

I've only seen LOVE at the Mirage in Vegas and Amaluna in the tent, but the permanent show was much better. Not to say I didn't enjoy Amaluna, but permanent shows can do so much more with special effects.

Saw Cirque's Kurios in the tent and thoroughly enjoyed it. Very intimate in the smaller space of the tent. Not a bad seat in the house. Booked tickets for LaNouba on Christmas. Very excited after reading the reviews here.

We loved the show. I recommend you getting them from their web page. If you join the Friends of Cirque you get a discount.

I loved La Nouba and Dralion. It is very hard to say which is the better show, but La Nouba has the advantage of being in a fixed venue so they can do things such as high wire which are harder to do with a touring show.

From the Cirque shows I remember seeing these are my favourites

1) Quidam (touring in a Grand Chapiteau, Manchester, was better than at the Albert Hall, London)
2) Varekai (Royal Albert Hall, London)
3) Allegria (Royal Albert Hall, London)
4) La Nouba (WDW)
5) Dralion (Royal Albert Hall, London)
5) Kooza (Royal Albert Hall, London)
6) Ka (MGM Grand, Las Vegas)
7)Saltimbanco (Grand Chapiteau, Birmingham UK)
7)Totem (Royal Albert Hall, London)

I have seen Dralion and La Nouba, I remember enjoying Dralion but I have to give an edge to la Nouba as I actually do remember parts of it, I don't remember much of Dralion.

For what it's worth I highly recommend Mystere for anyone going to Vegas, awesome show. I have seen Alegria, too which was very good.

I've seen about 15 Cirque shows.....La Nouba twice.
It is well worth it. Great show.

I have seen most of the Las Vegas Cirque shows, several of them multiple times. One traveling show here in Chicago. And La Nouba, 4 times. The Chicago show could not compare to the permanent venues, where the theater is built for the show. All have been excellent, La Nouba is wonderful.

If going, make sure to get second level seating. Most Cirque goers agree that second level seating at Cirque shows is more desirable than the lower level seating.

We've decided to go with La Nouba; and my husband is already signed up for Cirque Club. I also found out Costco has a $200 e-gift cert for $159.99. My only problem now is I just went to look for tickets, and only dates through May 15 are available at this point. I thought La Nouba could be booked 180 days in advance, but May 15 is only 175 days away. Shouldn't tickets be available for both Tuesday, May 19 and Wednesday, May 20 (179 and 180 days out, respectively)?

La Nouba is dark a few times during the year, that may be one of them.
