Kudos to John McCain

If I may remind you that there has been a lot of Hate since the primaries from the Obama crowd.....

And McCain and Palin never said anything that is not true about Obama..the crowd did...and with that said it was important that he ask the crowd to not call him a terrorist...because he is not a terrorist.

But the hatred has been on all sides....this election since the primaries has been full of hate....and it ain't gonna get any better.

Obama and McCain are both sending out to people in so many words.....dont choose the other one because ......fill in the space...

2 weeks ago there was a poll on who has had the most negative ADS....it was Obama 78% to McCain's 56%......the last week that has changed and it is McCain with the most Negative AD's....

The negative AD's dont bother me....it is the candidates using half truths that do....and they are both doing it.

What kind of hate? Calling someone a terrorist, or to "kill him" or "off with his head" or "bomb obama" like we're seeing the McCain supporters at the rallies are saying?

Horse pooh! The Obama campaign hasn't fostered hatred for Senator McCain or questioned his patriotism. Senator Obama's wife didn't talk about 'cold chills' when referring to Senator McCain. Senator Biden has talked about Senator McCain's policies (or lack thereof) not his integrity.

Sow the wind, reap the whirlwind. :sad2:

No one said that the Obama campaign has been squeaky clean. The point of this thread was for the purpose of basic fairness, I wanted to give McCain :thumbsup2 for doing the right thing today. This was meant as a positive thread.

No, Sen. McCain told the truth. The idiots were on their own.

Piffle. The McCain campaign is so bereft of positives they pulled out the old 'be afraid of that one' ******** and it backfired. It backfired hard.

I wish that McCain would stay that way. I expect a lot of negatives from many politicians but not from him.

Sen McCain did the right thing. The crowd booed him for it . . . and the woman who made the statement, when interviewed afterward, said she doesn't believe Sen Obama is a Christian. :sad2: :sad2: :sad2:

I'm not ready to make nice. Let McCain wear the fleas of the dogs he's been laying with. You can just see him recoil when they yell 'kill him' at his town hall meeting a day or two ago. To John McCain, I say, "Hey John, that smear campaign, how's that workin for ya?" You think because he's realized he's made a huge mistake that now he's trying to dig his way out and we should say, 'poor John, he's really a decent guy'? Not me, I THOUGHT he was a decent guy before he sold his soul to get the nomination and then took out a 2nd mortgage on it to try to win the Presidency. He's even involved even his wife in these lies and smears against Obama. He deserves what he gets. Bad sportsmanship rarely pays off.

Well...if we are going to count what the general mob does then consider this: in my town of Boca Raton people who have McCain signs in their yards are recieving letters that are hate filled rants about their lack of moral fiber. The letters call Palin's daughter horrible names and slam her son that is in the army and basically say "now that we know your politics we also know where you live".

I think when talking about the general public the hate and disrespect goes both ways.

:surfweb: An undecided voter in Florida!

Hate does, indeed, flow on both sides of the issue. Both candidates should go out of their way to denounce it when it presents itself.

I don't find Senator Obama's association with Ayers any more or less repugnant than McCain's association with Keating--they both took actions that ruined lives without care for country or neighbors. Neither is a particularly patriotic association. Neither should be an issue in this campaign.

The financial system is crumbling, homelessness is climbing, hundreds of thousands of Americans are out of work, and our "commanders on the ground" in Afghanistan think that war effort is not going well. I'd like to hear a lot less about Keating, Ayers, Pailin's colleges, and Obama is an Arab, and a LOT more about the real issues facing America.

People who engage in smear politics play to the worst qualities in the voting population--those people should be ashamed to stand in the same room with an American flag.

Yes, credit to McCain for seeing the terrible situation his campaign has irresponsibly crafted, and taking these first few steps to begin to show his contrition for his part in it. If he continues this work, and more forcefully speaks out against his supporters who make such comments, and against his supporters (including his VP nominee, if necessary) who incites such comments, then perhaps he'll earn some measure of redemption for his part in all of it.

I'd just like to point out that being an "Arab" doesn't make someone bad. I wish McCain had pointed that out too. Obama is an American- I'm not voting for him but he is NOT the anti-christ and he is NOT a Terrorist- he's shown some questionable judgement (in my opinion) for hanging with Ayers and Wright..... but he is NOT out to destroy the country.

Lorelei,

Thank you for pointing this out. I agree with you, but the problem is my party, The Republican Pary (for whom I am not voting in this election) has really rubbed me the wrong way.

This is exactly what Obama meant when he said that the working class cling to their guns and religion.

The Republican party used three major things in this election to win votes. They have been:

gun control-

religion Obama is a Muslim

race - Obama is a hater of whites because he attended Wright's church.

I do no believe McCain believes you should win at all cost. I do believe there are many in the party who believe he should.

I think those in control in this counrty have a responsibilty and that is not to breed ignorance, but then on the other hand, this is a pure example of how ignorance allows those in power to maintain control.

Yes, good for mccain for trying to not start the race war that he was starting. popcorn::

My husband is a man of very few words. After watching the two comments made to McCain today at his 'town hall' meeting which forced him to defend Senator Obama my quiet husband said:

When you incite idiots you have to be prepared for those idiots to do and say idiotic things.

McCain incited idiots....

Wow - tell your quiet husband - he is very profound.... ;)

If there were any doubt before, McCain is now officially a putz.

An Obama supporter here, but I was generally pleased that McCain was the Republican nominee. If I had to pick the next President from the list of Republican contenders this year, he would have been my pick.

However, I have been very disappointed in John McCain during the campaign since he got the nomination. The man I was seeing is not who I believed John McCain to be. Personally I felt that it was not McCain, but his handlers, that were running this horrific campaign. As has been mentioned before, the campaign plays on fear rather than issues etc. etc.

Last night, for the first time in months, I saw the man who I believe John McCain to be. McCain was being himself, unfettered by the toxic campaign organization that has been assembled on his behalf. If McCain should win the election, I want the John McCain who I saw last night as my President.
