I went shopping this week at Kroger and I always stop to make sure there hasn't been a coupon policy change, and here's what the woman at Customer Service said. You are now only allowed 5 of the same coupon. I asked what about if the coupon is good for several items, such as cereal where more than kind is offered, like with Post ( this was the example I used). She stated only 5 of the same. So I just wanted to be clear so I asked, So if I have 5 boxes of Healthy Grains and 5 boxes of a Post kids cereal, I can use 10 coupons, 5 on each type of product. She stated no only 5 total. So I said that's means that I have to split up my orders, she stated that is not allowed any more. Due to all this extreme couponing, it is causing the rule changes.

I asked for a copy of the policy she stated it is on line. But I could not find it? Any suggestions where to look.

So I thought to ask about the buy 10 items get 5 dollars off program. She gave me the list and said now you must buy in multiples of 10, not 10 of the same items any combination of 10 on the list. So I was like so if I have 15 items on the list she stated that I would only get the promotion on 10 of them. She stated again that because of the extreme couponing was forcing these changes.

So I had to stop and rethink my shopping, I'm glad that I was only picking up a few things.

I don't know if this was just in my store, or all over. Anyone else experienced this in their store.

I stopped shopping at Kroger a few weeks ago when I realized that they stopped doubling and tripling coupons. They did not announce a coupon policy change. They just did it. They seem to be cutting back on anything to do with coupons.

I do not have a Kroger in my area, but one of the coupon boards I frequent there is a lot of conversation around the policy change. Like yours, most are saying 5 coupon limit but others have said their store is allowing only 3 of the same coupons. Not sure if it is a managers discretion type thing.

I work for a different grocery chain. I can tell you our policy has changed several times in the last year. But, it is mostly internet coupons. We have stopped taking anything that states 'free' or the dollar value makes the product 'free'. Those seem to be the ones that are coming back fraudulent. Honestly, those internet coupons are the bain of my existance where I work! I am a couponer so I know that we coupon to save extra cash not to scam the world. But, unfortunately, there ARE those out there. We had a customer come in with a 10.00 off tide coupon any size. We declined it because it was fradulent. She then visited 5 other stores..all declined. She kept trying to use that coupon until she got the right cashier who was new. She then in turn hassled the associate, during the busiest time of day, and that associate took 10 of them for 10 large bottles of tide. The associate was new, anxious because her line was getting longer etc etc etc. When counting her till we realized the error, the poor girl nearly had an anxiety attack thinking she would be fired. So, the bad apples out there are pretty darn savvy in their ways. Its one of the reasons I hate that show. The one and only one I saw the couponer plainly stated she only goes to the register with the new cashier/guy cashier because they don't hassle her, they just push her q's through. Its ridiculous to put that on tv. My first thought was if you are doing it the right way, very few q's will beep anyway so there should not be a problem at the register.

It does bite the big one though. I use to enjoy spending time doing my coupons and feeling like I got a good deal. Now, I don't really spend the time doing it since so many things have changed in different stores. Its much more of a hassle than it used to be.

Our Krogers are still doubling up to .50 value, so that may be a regional thing. I also take advantage of the buy 10 save 5, but here you've always had to buy in multiples of 10- I always figure it out before I go shopping, but sometimes will have to do substitutions on the fly. Food Lion does a similar promotion sometimes, and those two are the only places where I can consistantly save 45-50% on my totals. The 5 coupon limit thing doesn't bother me, normally the most I have of a coupon is 3-4. I figure the sales cycle, so I don't need more than a 2-3 month supply of anything. The exception is pasta, when it goes on the buy 10 I buy a lot, because we have pasta once a week.

I think a 5 coupon limit is totally reasonable.

I agree esp since it is only 5 of the same coupon. And if you look at a lot of the coupons they now say only 4 like coupons allowed at one time so 5 is more than the coupons actually 'allow'.

I dont have a problem with 5 of the same item... our store has always been 4 of the same coupon.

Now if it was 5 total during a shopping order.. I would be in trouble.

Sometimes I have had 30-50 coupons.:rotfl2:
