Hi, we've had a few things at Kringla but not too many. We've had the sweet pretzel (pretty good, probably better when fresh and/or hot); Rice Cream -Love this! Not too sweet but the strawberry sauce adds just the right sweetness; and I think we've had school bread but I'm not sure.

Since we are going this time with QSDP Kringla may be one of the places we do a meal. So, that being said, what have you had there that you loved, like, or hated? If you have pictures, even better! TIA

Oh, and if you've eaten hear using a CS credit, are they any items excluded as an entree or as a dessert? Can you get the chef's choice (sandwich and soup), dessert, and beverage for one CS?

I used the dining plan in March and got the smoked salmon sandwich, salad ,rice cream and soda for one quick service credit. It was very good and a good deal for one credit. I will go back again and get the exact same things.

Dh always gets the salmon and egg sandwich and loves it. I always get the ham and apple. It's warm with apple slices (not sauce). It's one of my very favorite QS places in any park!

For dessert;
I like the school bread
Dh likes the cloudberry horn
DD always has to get the fresh waffles. It's on her list of MUST do's for every trip. lol

Google Kringla Bakeri (and try with a word like "photos"). It will show you what most of this stuff looks like.

The school bread looks yummy, like a big bun with frosting.

The lefse looks boring to me, but is basically rolled up.

The veiled maiden looks like a mini trifle with all the layers.

But haven't actually gotten to sample anything yet.

I can only speak for the School Bread. DW got it with a snack credit, and it was amazing.

We love School Bread. My son asked for some for dessert tonight after dinner. I said you can have some in a few weeks. He said no I want it now!

I think the school bread is the best sweet thing I've had at Disney!! It ROCKS! It tastes like a cross between a doughnut and coconut cake! YUM! Here is a picture from our last trip. DH got the creme horn and it was just ok. But the school bread was so good that I went back and got another one to go and had it for breakfast the next morning!

I love our Epcot WS visits, as I can get good Norwegian food and it isn't even Christmas!
That being said, I have snacked at Kringla, but eat dinners @ Akershus.
The food, I believe, is the same.

Lefse resembles a tortilla, it is a flatbread.
But it does not taste anything like a tortilla.
Lefse is made of potatoes, flour, butter, cream, rolled out with a special rolling pin and baked on a griddle.
Sounds easier to do than it actually is
which is why I have enjoyed mine at WDW.
It is soft, not hard or crusty.
To me it has a flavor reminiscent of good mashed potatoes.
We spread butter on it and roll it up, you can add cinnamon sugar,
like they do at WDW, but I think I will ask them to prep mine
with just butter this next time.
That's what I grew up with and old habits are hard to break

Our traditional Christmas Eve dessert.
Made from rice porridge (rice cooked in milk with sugar) with whipped cream.
My recollection is that the WDW version has no almonds or cinnamon(we make ours with almonds & cinnamon), but does have the fruktsaus (red fruitsauce).
I enjoy the riskreme every visit...

Ive been hearing so much about it, I was going to hunt it down on our next trip, but Im not a fan of coconut. Should I just head straight for France? !!

I'm not a fan of coconut either, but it was toasted and it didn't have that horrible texture that it does raw. Perhaps they would make it for you without putting the coconut on top if you asked. It is worth asking b/c it is very, very good!

Ill take a peek when Im there! Hubby likes coconut, so maybe I can have him get one and let me take a bite! Bad thing is he's not too keen on sweets. Maybe I can tear off the top, give it to him, and Ill eat the rest!

ADDED-just looked at some pix on Google. Most things look really good. I did notice that sometimes the coconut on the school bread is toasted and sometimes it's not. May just be something that they've changed over the years.

We did use a counter service here for both dh and I as well as eating things when not on the dining plan.

For the dining plan I had the norwegian club, huge, I pulled the onion off of it. It came with either salad or soup. I had the soup once. It was a thick dark based bean type soup. The salad is just garden and comes with 1 piece of small baby carrot and a little piece of swiss cheese.I had my favorite almond pretzel.

Dh had the ham and apple sandwich, soup and cloudberry horn.

He has also gotten the salmon sandwich. He enjoyed it and I did take a taste of the blood orange pudding. I think it was overly sweet and had a strange taste He said it was o.k.

The fruit tart is excellent. I dont particularly care for the rice cream or veiled maiden.

The food is fresh and you get alot for the money oop or dining credit. Dh and I have been to Norway so we know what to expect food wise.

Very good description of lefse! I grew up eating the stuff, but we NEVER .... and I do mean NEVER ..... put cinnamon sugar on lefse. I'm not sure about the schoolbread - never seen anything remotely like it in the smorgsbords in my hometown.

My ds had the blood orange custard and raved about it! The only negative for him was that it was too rich, it was difficult to eat the whole thing. Somehow he managed

The fresh waffles are wonderful!

When I had them, they took about 5 minutes but when they came out they were crisp on the outside and fluffy inside. It is thinner than a Mickey waffle.

They are filled with strawberry preserves and topped with powdered sugar and whipped cream (not sour cream when I had them in March lol)

The Veiled Maiden sounds very cool! I want to try that now

No, it's not made to order. I would just scrape it off the top if I didn't like it - then again, you lose the extra sweetness.
