Just got a phone call this morning, Kouzzina is closed for renovations (making the dining room different) from November 29 through December 14.

Luckily our trip is long enough that we were able to reschedule.

Hope the head's up helps someone...:)

Why on earth are they renovating this restaurant? The place is only been open a year, year and 1/2!!

That's what I asked, and what the woman said everyone has been asking. I guess they are doing something to the dining room. :confused3

I will tell you, it is really weird to be called at 8am on a Saturday by someone at Disneyworld! My son, who brought me the phone, practically thought it was actually Cat Cora. :upsidedow

I got the call too and now no other good Epcot area restuarants have availability the night I had booked! I wish they would have told us sooner! I was so looking forward to eating there but at least I could have gotten my second choice if I had known when I made my ressies 180 days in advance. Bad timing Kouzzina!

I don't know where to eat now . I wanted Chefs or the Hacienda but they are totally booked up (except for Chefs at 910 pm which is just too late for my tummy)

My reservation for Kouzzinea was cancelled as well, for December 13. It will be interesting to hear what will be done at the restaurant. I now have a reservation for The Wave that evening, wanted to be close to MK due to reworked plans, so maybe this is for the best. Just hoping The Wave will be as enjoyable as our prior visits. The last podcast review of it and recent experiences by others haven't been great.

I answered my own question, yes they are, just made reservations for Dec. 13, 2010.

So during the closure Flying Fish will offer breakfast? Will it be the same menu as Kouzzina or different? (I'm hoping different! We just want a plain TS bfast w/o the characters before we leave for the cruise!)

They never bothered to call me. My ADR just poofed and, considering that this was around the same time ALL my ADRs disappeared from the online system (others have since been confirmed), it could have been disastrous if I didn't know about the closure and just assumed it was in "poofed but still available" place all my others are. I feel sorry for those who don't hang on Disney restaurant forums and will surely be showing up at Kouzzina expecting a meal.

We had breakfast at Kouzzina last Thursday (11/11), and I can report that as we walked up to the restaurant, we encountered two people standing outside with plans in their hands that we could plainly see, discussing the construction project.

I don't know what, if anything, they will do to the inside, but the outside will now be splashed PROMINENTLY with Cat Cora's name and picture! (Assuming the plans we saw were final).

We noticed that every CM was asking every table of guests as they were being seated if they had heard of Cat Cora and if they knew what a BIG DEAL it was to have an Iron Chef's restaurant at WDW. "She's one of the top 4 chefs in the world!" the breathless CMs were claiming. (Um, she's one of 4 chefs on a TV show and, if you want to split hairs, she didn't win her spot on the show -- she was just hired for it. That's a far cry from tops in the world.)

I'm not anti-Cat or anything, and I can say that we all enjoyed our breakfast there, but the to-do seems to have to do with the desire to better market the restaurant as a special destination than anything else.

Oh good gravy, how annoying. And I completely agree with your assessment of her ranking in the world of chefs.

I'm only going there b/c hubby and son watch Iron Chef and think it's cool that there's a restaurant there...and that's going to bug me if it's branded all over the place...:headache:

I was there today. They are re-doing the dining room and the waiting area. They say the waiting area will be more of a tribute to Cat Cora and her family. She will be featured more prominently; right now there are photos of her parents and granparents.
