Can anyone share their experiences with kosher food in the World???? Best/worst? How table service stacks up to counter?

Thanks in advance!

Well, the counter service restaurants have very limited food. Basically your burger, chicken fingers & in a few place a pastrami sandwich. We've had the burger & chicken fingers and they are only okay. They microwave them so the bun on the burger is kind of gross.

As for the table service restaurants, there is also very limited choices. Here is what is available:

chicken soup w/ matzo ball
vegetable soup
brisket
honey glazed chicken breast
ginger salmon
cheese lasagna
kids meals: chicken fingers, hot dog, macaroni & cheese
apple strudel
chocolate cake
pareve cheesecake

breakfast: cheese omelet or cheese blintzes

There are ice creams and some packaged stuff that are kosher.

We honestly go there for atmosphere and not food. Think airline meals and you won't be disappointed.

If you are staying onsite sometimes the chefs at the resorts will go out of their way for you. When I stayed at POFQ the chef there was very accommodating.

For more tourist info pertaining to kosher folks, you can go to www.jewishorlando.com and click on the tourist link.

We went to the American pavilion counter service at EPCOT and ordered Kosher and they had no idea what we were talking about. We finally asked for the manager and they gave us our meal. Nothing to write home about, but it was a change from the prepacked stuff you can get at tableservice restaurants.

I found a Glatt Kosher restaurant close by WDW.

If you have a car, go out Hotel Plaza Blvd (past the DTD hotels). Turn left at the light at SR-535. Go to the first traffic light and turn right onto Palm Parkway. After the second hotel on your right you will see a shopping center. It is mixed in with the stores in that center. (It also says it is Halel and Indian)

Disney is very good about vegetarian food, so if you are interested in Kosher style as opposed to true Kosher, you can eat quite well. I know people differ greatly on this, but I thought I'd offer the info in case it's helpful.

Mary has a good point! If you don't need "glatt" kosher like what I wrote above then you can surely do vegetarian meals throughout WDW. There are lots of options available for vegetarian eating, not limited to mac&cheese, soy burgers, etc.

BTW, the restaurant Cheshire Figment is referring to is probably The Lower East Side restaurant and from all the reviews I've read it's horrible there. I haven't heard even one positive review and so I've never eaten there.

However, there is a new restaurant that I haven't yet tried out but sounds fantastic and has great reviews. It is under the supervision of Rabbi Konikov who I personally know & he is the Chabad Rabbi in Orlando.
