I see it mentioned a lot for breakfast, but how is it for dinner? We love the atmosphere at the Poly, but we tend to skip 'ohana due to it being way too much meat for us....thoughts?

LOVE, love, love Kona!! This is our first nights dinner every trip. We have not had a bad meal or dessert (Kilauea Torte...OH MY) ever. We have had their steaks, chicken, and I adore their Shrimp and Scallops - Panko breaded shrimp and pan-seared scallops with sticky rice and Ponzu, spicy guava, passion fruit, and wasabi cream sauces.

It tends to take a while for the meal so it's not a rushed meal but it is worth it. We really enjoy it!

Kona Cafe is excellent! It is a must for me each trip. last time they had a choice of an appetizer, entree and dessert for $30-40. My favorite and the only thing I've had there is the coconut almond crusted chicken. So delicious and light but so filling. I also had the duck potstickers which were great and the pineapple upside down cake. the crab cakes are very good as well but the shining star is the bread and macadamia nut butter. I have had several friends who have ordered the teriyaki steak and enjoyed that as well. Go for it! I hope you enjoy Kona as much as I do :thumbsup2

Count us in the must do group! We eat dinner at Kona on our first night every trip, too. Their coconut almond breaded chicken is to die for (as are the desserts)!

Love Kona..have dinner there every trip. Good food and you can use regular DDP to get 3 course price-fix meal from the selected choices. Good use of the plan..we also have done the 3 course meals at Le Chefs De France, Captain's Grille, among others...

Connears

Love dinner at Kona, their pineapple glazed teriyaki steak is to die for so delicious my mouth is watering just thinking about it:thumbsup2

Also fans of Kona! We dined there in December. 3 of us had the Teriyaki Steak. 1 of us had the mahi. Shared a potsticker appetizer. Desserts are fabulous as well...one Kona Kone. 2 banana chocolate creme brulee. 1 of us ordered the 'Ohana Bread Pudding.

Yum!

And the service was great too. We saw several people enjoying sushi, I believe.

I too love Kona for dinner!! I first ate here in 2009 with my mom prior to being diagnosed with celiac disease. Loved the bread with macadamia nut honey butter. I still have the butter with gluten free bread these days. My favorite dish is the tuna Oscar very closely followed by the teriyaki steak mm mMmMm mmmm. Dessert is amazing. They show you all the desserts when you first walk in. I live and breathe for the chocolate banana creme brûlée which just also happens to be gluten free :goodvibes. Ate here twice last January!! Will be headed there again in march soooooo excited. Kona is a must do. I also love the little store across the hall, they have everything from gifts to snacks and even cold medicine ( caught a cold on the last trip boo). Love love love!!!!:yay:

Went there on my last trip because of these Board recommendations and found the place relaxing, the service spotty and the food average but not amazing. I am thinking I may have ordered the wrong thing as other people seemed to have better luck with their choices. Here is my review with photos:

I am still bitter with the disapointment of it all. Though when I return in a few months I am STILL going to see if I can get my REAL pineapple bread to go!

We've added to our short list of musts every trip. Even my DD (now 8) got hooked when she was 6. I don't know if I would call the atmosphere relaxing because it's just off the lobby and very visible to anyone walking by, but the food and staff make up for it. BTW, we love the teriyaki steak and the cream brulee - yum.

We love Kona for dinner and eat there twice every trip. I can't get enough of the bread and macadamia nut butter. I could make a meal off of this. I always get the almond crusted chicken which is delicious. Try the pressed pot coffee also delicious. You won't be disappointed having a meal here.

How could I forget to mention those! I second that motion - DELICIOUS!!!

We really enjoyed Kona for dinner as well.... we had the Teriyaki Steak and it was really really good. We love O'Hana but I will say that we thought Kona was a much more relaxing dinner.

Kona is one of our favorite restaurants. I like the Pan Aisan Noodles and the steak!
