Kona Cafe at Poly

I've eaten dinner at Kona four times! It's always very good!

The bread and butter are awesome! On the DDP, you can order special smoothies. And if you enjoy steak, the Pineapple Terriyaki Strip is always very good and a very large portion. And desserts are great too! Service can be slow sometimes depepnding on who you get, so maybe allot a little extra time for here.

I agree with everyone else! This place is wonderful! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Kona Cafe. We had eaten at Ohana quite a few times before and never tried Kona. A few years back were there with a party of 8 and could not get into Ohana, but they had a late ressie at Kona. We eat there the next to last evening of our trip and LOVED it. We were traveling with 3 picky eaters! I have stomach problems and 2 of the pre-teens were just plain ol' 'picky'. It was the best meal of our trip! My family has eaten there every trip since! In fact for our next trip we have ADR's for breakfast and dinner there. :cool1: Yummy!

I love Kona Cafe for all meals, but especially for dinner because it serves the wonderful bread loaf with macadamia nut butter. Guests likely overlook Kona because it does not offer any entertainment or particular theme, but the food ranks among the best on property for restaurants in Kona's price range.

I particularly recommend the sticky wings and the tuna Oscar. All the desserts are fabulous.

We also love Kona for dinner and the bread is a big part of the reason. In fact, we have stopped getting appetizers (although the wings and pot stickers are excellent) just to leave room for a second loaf of bread.:thumbsup2

I hate threads about Kona specifically because SOMEONE is letting the cat out of the bag! Kona is the best kept secret on Disney property IMHO. But Please, can't we keep it a secret a little while longer?

I guess I'm the odd one out. We had a very good breakfast there, but a mediocre dinner with terrible service last year. I wouldn't go back.

We have only eaten there for dinner but it was very good. We really enjoyed everything we ate. We have it booked two times this year when we go.

I had reservations at Tonys Town Square for December, and just a few hours ago I decided that I had a great Italian place here in town and wanted something different. After reading menus for all the monorail resort dining options I decided that the Kona Cafe sounded like a nice place to eat at for my last night of my trip. I would not have spent so much time researching the other places if I had just seen this thread sooner! Now I am so excited, I am sure that this will be a great meal! I just hope I don't get any ideas about changing any more ADR's, I have changed 2 and cancelled 2 already and I have MONTHS to go!

The last time I went on vacation my family went there our first full day while I went to eat at Epcot with my friends I had not seen in awhile and they raved SO much about the Kona dinner that we later changed our reservations the last night from Tony's in MK for Kona and I went with them.

It was the worst meal I had that entire trip >.< Even my family even said that it was shocking that this was the same place they had eaten at that first night and loved so much. The food was all really over cooked and the water tasted like pure rust. So I would call that a hit or miss experience? Cus they loved it the first time and hated it the second.

Now, on the other hand I have had breakfast there a few times and it has NEVER let me down as the best breakfast I have EVER had on the Disney Property. I would go so far as to say the best breakfast I have had EVER period.

Kona Cafe was my favorite dinner during my trip in April. The bread with macadamia nut butter, the crab cakes appetizer, the shrimp and scallops and the banana creme brulee were all excellent. We also had wonderful service.

We love Kona. We eat here almost every trip. The steak here beat out the steaks at LeCellier on 2 trips where we ate at both according to DH and DSIL (I don't like steak).

love it! went for dinner..my bf and I both had the terriyaki steak. it was amazing! will definitely be back.

DD17 is not a big eater. I'm wondering if we got the sticky wings (someone said its a big portion) and the teryaki steak/mashed potatoes would we be able to share and would the portions be big enough to share?:confused3

Tried Kona last yr and was a bit dissapointed my tuna oscar was bland and my family of 4 was stuffed into this round booth where we didnt really have any room to move, service was horribly slow maybe it was just an off night so since we always see such good reviews and since we are staying at the Poly this yr we made an ADR to try it again. I may try the new Chef menu since it includes appy, entree and dessert. Not sure b/c I may just want to order sushi and dessert..I guess we will see in Sept!

This was by far our favorite meal of our 9 nights at Disney this past time. It was our very first time to try it and it is now on the TOP of our must do's everytime. I had the teriyaki strip and it was much better than my steak at Le Cellier. In fact, there was 9 of us & everyone of us liked our meal at Kona much better than our meal at Le Cellier. You have got to try it.

The food sounds really good. It's a shame though the restaurant looks like a coffee shop (which it once was) and is open to all the noise and mayhem from it's neighbor 'Ohana. Not to mention the lobby and all the people walking by staring at you while you eat.
If they could just add a wall and make it LOOK like a dinner spot (and add a bar) I might be persuaded to go.

they have the BEST teryaki steak and sticky wings and welcome bread/butter.
i was eating at the California Grill and got the bbq filet and i just remember looking out the window at the Polynesian and thinking how their teryaki steak was WAY better! I would've rather eaten at Kona than CG. Kona has great smoothies too.. oh and that giant chocolate carving of lilo and stitch... and being able to see all their dessert options which are on display.:woohoo: cant wait to eat here!

we LOVE it! We'll be eating there again in 9 days for dinner!! can't wait!
I highly reccomend the teriyaki strip

Would DD17 and I be permittd to share a dinner? I'm thinking perhaps wings for an appetizer, then the teriyaki strip for entree.

We loved Kona our last trip and will be making ressies for our upcomming trip this feb! The chef was very professional and the food was great. My dd#1 wants to go to Kona for her 9th bday dinner over any place else :)
