I really like the looks and ease of the Kodak Easyshare digital camera. I am thinking of the CX6330 or DX6340. Anyone have one? I don't want to spend more than $200 - $250. Target has a deal for the CX6330 for $199 plus $50 instant gift card. What do you all think?

We just bought a Hewlett Packard digital camera at Circuit City yesterday. Bundle including the printer, paper, rechargable batteries, etc was $299.

We have a Kodak easyshare, not sure which model #. I am happy with it. The only draw back is that I can't get it to take good night pictures, they get blurry if you more the slightest bit...even on night timesetting.

I would not invest in the docking station. We did and rarely use it.

I have the kodak easyshare dx4330 and I really love it. It is our first digital camera, so I wanted something easy and idiot-proof and it is great. Very easy to use. It takes good pictures and can also take video. I did not buy the docking station with it. We also have a slr camera and since we bought the kodak we never use the slr. The digital is so easy to take pics and share with friends and family. Before I bought our camera I went to amazon and read the reviews that people had written about each camera we were considering. It is very helpful to get the pros/cons from actual users before buying.

believe,

the night setting is actually using slow-sync shutter setting. This means that the camera will even be MORE prone to movement.

kimmie,

I personally like Canon better, Kodak have more of a red-push and Fuji have more of a green-push. (Meaning, red colour in Kodak will have more punch, Fuji's green colour will have more punch). Whereas Canon does not have colour push.

In fact, Canon A70, A80 does have "Vivid" mode if you like to take certain pictures with red-push but defaults to "Neutral" mode.

If you want the Kodak, the main 3 differences between the units are:

1. CX uses plastic body, DX uses metal body (more durable)
2. CX uses Kodak Retinar lens, DX uses Schneider/Kreuznach lens
3. CX has 3x optical zoom (37mm-111mm), DX is 4x optical zoom (36mm-144mm)

Hope it helps,

Kodak easyshare cameras are really nice. And since you asked for good deals here you go:

buy.com
90127791 Kodak EasyShare CX6330 Digital Camera 3 Mega Pixel $209.99
Free shipping
- MIR $50.00
Final $159.99

or for least out of pocket:
go
here click through one fo the $30 off 150 then add the camera into your cart.
net cost (w/o tax) is 169.98

So if you shop at target a lot, I would take their deal. Otherwise use one of the above :D

Good Luck!
Melissa

We have the Kodak EasyShare LS 443--ours came with the docking station for free and I use it daily, so I guess it depends on your setup and usage. I enjoy using the different modes for our shots and agree that nightime pics take some getting used to. I think the Easy Share line is good for someone who wants to use it for normal things, shots of family, kids, some outdoor shots, some indoor shots.

I agree that the Canon lines take a better -what I call-honest-picture-the colors are more true to life than other brands. I have other Canon cameras and just got a new Canon Rebel digital (6 megapixel digital SLR) and it is great, but a lot more than what you want to pay.

Good Luck with your choice-here is a link to some reviews on epinions for that camera (CX6330):

Congrats on your Canon Rebel Digital! You'll love it. I'm also using Canon D10 (same innards as the Rebel Digital, just different features that most people, including myself will never use). The picture is absolutely stunning.

At 6.1MP, it's about 80% of the best 35mm camera can achieve.

Sincerely,
David Susilo

I have kodak CX6330 and I love it. I use it all the time. I got the printer dock and use that to both transfer my pictures to my computer and print them out as a 4x6. Its a really easy camera to use and I love the way my photos come out.

I have the Kodak4330 and love it!!! Ours cam'e with the docking station and its so easy to download the pics! I use it almost every day, as we have 3 kids 5 and under. Someone always has a "Kodak moment." ;)
Target's price sounds great. I would say go for it!!! :D

Thanks-
I *just* got it so I am still in "play" mode, can't wait to take it outside and get some neat snow shots. It's just too bad I can't take it with me when I run the marathon at WDW-now those would be some great shots!

Just got back from Target. I was all ready to buy my camera and they are out of stock for the CX 6330 ( the one that came with the $50 gift card). He even called another store in the area and they do not have it either. The gift card is what really sold me on the deal too! They would not give me a rain check:( Now I am back to square one! lol

aero99 - your link didn't work for me.

Have you considered Canon A60 or A70?

consider a Nikon 950 or above. There are some good deals out there on Nikons. Three of the pictures below were taken with a 950.

Do a search for Target, perhaps you can buy it online.

Thanks Gail! I knew you would be out there.;) I did check on line and they don't offer the $50 gift card and the camera is not in stock on line either. I would like to look into the Nikon. I just want: easy to use, nice pictures, and won't spend more than 200 - 250. I didn't think I would have so much to think about. lol

I just purchased (2 weeks ago) a Kodak EasyShare DX6440. A 4megapixel camera. It's really nice quality.. and I only have it set on "better" quality (mid-setting).

I got it at OfficeMax.com for $400, minus a $50 off when you spend $250 coupon, plus a deal for a free 128MB chip. The camera stores more than 220 photos on the card. (about 500k per photo). It takes video for roughly 2 seconds equaling the space of 1 photo.

I'd seen the Kodak EasyShare cameras before, and was really impressed by the ease of use when synchronizing/transferring.

IMHO, Nikon is the way to go. We have ZIO that plugs into the USB port on the computer and we transfer the photos onto the computer in seconds. The docking station does the same thing, for a bunch more money, it was a marketing ploy by Kodak, and, it worked. It is not a necessary item and it is an unnecessary expense.
Try this site: http://refurbdepot.com/results2.cfm
I purchased my 950 there and purchased the extended warranty there also. Another place to try is ebay. Lots of stuff out there.
If you cannot go with the Nikon (which is ultra easy to use) then I would recommend you go with Cannon, Olympus or Fuji (have not had a problem with it throwing green, my kids have them and they take wonderful pictures). I would avoid Kodak and HP, when I sold cameras they were the ones returned most often.
Hope this helps.

You are the greatest! I have another ? I have seen them on ebay and they (most) say they are refurbished. Will I get a camera that is someones old one that has been remade? Is the warranty the same as new? How do you deal with it if you have problems? Would it be better to buy new from a brick and mortar?

I agree with Gail, the docking station is only a marketing ploy. A USB cable does the exact same thing. Even the "share" button is available on this year's lineup from Kodak.

As far as refurbished items. I don't trust any refurbished item with movable parts, especially something as fragile as lens assembly (be it camera lens or laser lens).

Sincerely,
FatCow
